I get risk reward but if Dubas gave him 4 mill for absolutely nothing, he would be hung in the town square

That fills a need for the Isles, so I think it's fair for the most part. Adding the 3rd might be too much, but I'm not going to squabble about that. I'm curious why Leafs fans keep trying to trade him. I know you don't want to lose him for nothing, but if you move him then you're killing the LD side. The drop off from Muzzin would be steep.

I would rather just get a package that can help us get better for Rielly than all this other unneeded stuff

sandin. dermott . muzzin. it isnt that bad and its better than keeping rielly losing in the first round and losing him to free agency. we need assets

Sandin and Dermott are major drop-offs from Rielly. You don't need assets. You guys need to be chasing a cup NOW and while I don't hold Rielly as in the same regard as most Leaf's fans, he gives you a WAY better chance than either Sandin or Dermott.

rielly the soft guy with no edge to his game..i liked him but hes terrible defensively and sandin showed he also isnt the best pp quaterback anymore... we need strong players with will to make defensive plays. hes the opposite of that. literally a tourist out there

i would remodel our bottom six. probably add dvorak and crouse but thats me. i value kids like ritchie.. i think crouse is underrated and hes only 25 too. get tough guys with size and we might see a second round

As @Mr_Gardoki implies, you're replacing Morgan Rielly with Mattias Samuelsson and Rasmus Sandin, two 21-year-olds (they turn 22 within days of each other in March) who have a grand total of 49 NHL games and 45 AHL games between them. That's not improving a defense that couldn't get Toronto out of the first round last year, and hoping that it will is just . . . overly optimistic.

I agree about Rielly and that you need stronger players, but Sandin and Dermott are not as good so you hurt yourself by moving him without replacing him. I get you're trying to not lose him for nothing, but you're shooting yourself in the foot this way. You're better off making as strong of a run as possible and losing him for nothing than moving him just to get assets and icing a worse team.

Overly optimistic is a very polite way of stating what he's proposing lol

As you have gathered, I was dying to say something quite a bit stronger, but as someone whose intemperance has been, er, recognized on several occasions, I chose not to risk it.
