I think they let CAR take him because if MTL signs him...that means a guaranteed $6.1M the following year for KK AND a lot more to sign Suzuki. Which means you can't get a full roster.

Think Habs match and then trade KK after this season … to Ari or Seattle (or any team with cap space looking for rebuild with younger forwards

Why?? He was a major over draft at #3 OA. Getting a 1st and 3rd in a deep draft is the better option over paying him 6.1 mil...

Nah. You keep him for the year and see what happens. You can always trade him later. He breaks out like he should hes worth 6mil. Why wait 3 more years for a late first rounder that may or may not pan out or make a trade where you give up more assets. They a need a 2C and they already lost Danault. You pay him and lose nothing. They have the cap and can decide later what to do. Losing him for a 1st and 3rd is nonesense. You know what you have already.

Let him go and ask the Kings what they want for one of their plentiful young centers.

Vilardi, Turcotte, Byfield, Thomas, Helenius, Andersson.

Add proven 1C and 2C vets Kopitar and Danualt and you know the Kings will screw up at least 2 of those young centers development.

We know what KK is, a BUST.

The Habs are not getting into the playoffs this year, they're a 1 and done Cinderella team (like the Sens taking the Pens to Game 7 in the Conference Finals or the Jets vs. Knights in the Conference Finals).

Wasting $6 million on this dud knowing you have 2 true young studs waiting for a new contracts is opening a can of worms. If Bergy admits KK is worth $6 than Suzuki and Caufield demand $9 +.

That was the mistake Dumass make with the Leafs by handing J.T. $11 and Nylander $7 which made MnM's agents smell blood and cut the Leafs throat with their contracts.

Bergevin will be very busy this week seeing what he can get from other teams for the Canes draft picks or KK @$6.1. Habs need a 2c badly(or experienced 1c). Otherwise season is a write off. I think the 1st and 3rd are worth more than KK at $6.1 in a trade. No one has cap space, everyone loves draft picks(even late rounders).

They can't trade him before august 28th 2022... I hope they don't match and then trade for a better player like Hertl or Kadri
