I think if MTL doesnt match (which would SUCK), CAR's lines look like:

Svech - Aho - Teravainen
Niederreiter - Trocheck - Necas
Staal - Kotkaniemi - Fast
Martinook - Stepan - Leivo

Trocheck >>>> KK, Necas >> Fast

If I’m mtl I take the picks. Kk is good but has only managed 0.36 points per game, which is extremely low for a top six forward. Plus Carolina has to pay $6.1 million to a player with 5 goals last season

Staal isn’t playing wing. He’s our best FO man and shut down pivot. KK likely start in the LW in the top 6 and Nino goes to third line. Playing with high end talent in our top 6 should bring out some of the playmaking and scoring that KK has potential of.

If he plays well this year and is extended he’ll likely slot into 2C if Troch moves on.

They likely had something close to that since there are reports they were offering a trade for him in the first place.

Mtl said the same thing about Aho." We try to acquire him by transaction blablabla" It's a revenge move they clearly didn't try with a transaction before offersheet him

Well independent league wide nhl “insiders” confirmed that there were serious trade offers for KK. That was never reported during the whole Aho thing. Doesn’t really matter at the end of the day tho

that's true. But I saw that KK and the canes have an agreement for an extension. AAV 4M . I hope the habs will match now

Yeah seems like they have the framework of a deal. Not sure if KK would sign a longer term deal when able to for a lower AAV with MTL tho. Maybe he would but seems like there’s more issues between team and player than there was with Aho and team at the time.

I completely understand KK, being bench in the final to play Byron or Staal. After that the coache who bench you sign for 3 years. that's a good reason to sign an OS
