That’s the problem, despite how good he is, he’s not Gretzky. No one is gonna pull the trigger on such a move until they either drop the price or see he comes back healthy from said surgery. It’s a tough spot to be in. If I was a Buffalo fan, I’d ask for the moon because of how great he is when healthy, but as a fan of any acquiring team I’d seriously question the notion of spending so much to acquire a guy who is injured and desperately wants out. I guess the alternative is Buffalo keeps him and benches him for the next 5 years till his contract runs out, but that seems unlikely.
