All 3 were very underwhelming. Vejdemo was extremely disappointing and has been overtaken in our depth charts. Mysak was terrible tonight and was a puck hog. Other guy....meh

I wasn’t able to watch the game, but I can’t say I’m disappointed with Vejdemo. I’m honestly surprised we even re-signed him, but he’s familiar with the organization and Laval needs depth. He’s just a guy whose ceiling is AHL 1st liner at this point.

Fortin I’m super surprised that he lasted this long. The organization clearly values him a lot more than his previous year’s stats and his 2-way AHL contract would suggest. I expected him to be ECHL-bound.

I’m as big of a fan of Pezzetta as anyone, but his 0.18 career points per game in the AHL would likely hold him back from ever getting any NHL time.

Pezzetta is just proving that you can actually improve over the summer as a Habs prospect. He reminds me of Deslaurier (although a better version). With Hoffman + Byron out to start the season, I can definitely see Pezzetta making the team. Like Bergevin said, he loves when players force him to make hard decision in training camp.

RHP (and maybe Pezzetta, I haven’t seen much of his play) could play some games, although it might be a bit more likely to see Perreault slot in the lineup, since Hoffman is only likely to be out for a maximum of 5 games. Although if Paquette is still injured and we get another injury on the wing, then we call them up.

So right now our D looks like:

Edmundson is out with an unknown injury, but it sounds like it’ll take a bit more time than they initially predicted. If he misses any time, Romanov will play on the top pair with Petry. If he’s good to go for the start of the season he’ll play with Petry and Romanov will probably play with Savard.

Norlinder is out with an unknown injury. I don’t think he was NHL ready anyways, but this injury probably takes him out of the conversation one way or another.

Niku is out with what is likely a concussion. (Or some other head injury) We haven’t really seen much of him, but he’ll probably be kept on the roster unless they absolutely have to waive him. So whenever he returns he’ll probably challenge Wideman for his spot.

Yep. And he’ll soon be on waivers again, and probably will go back to Florida/Charlotte.

So the habs are at 47 contracts now, which could become 48 if Xhekaj gets a contract. (And could also go down when/if Guhle is sent back to Prince Albert and when/if Montembeault gets re-claimed by Florida)

I mean with Niku likely out long-term and Edmundson out for who knows how long, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Although the habs are now last in the waiver order, and it’s very unlikely no one puts in a claim.

Although, it appears that Fleury isn’t even the best Cale (Kale) placed on waivers today.

I’ll say, it’s great to see the old Jeff Petry back after he was hampered with his hand injury for most of the playoffs.
