I’m not completely against a korp for kosk type of trade however I can’t see it happening since Edmonton has the right to expect an add on from the Columbus side and I don’t see any reason for Columbus to do so. Keeping in mind Kosk stats are a bit misleading because of being heavily overplayed to start last year then was given long stretch’s while smith was standing on his head. Kosk is a guy that can be very good when given a normal workload.

CBJ were asking for a 1st plus. You think a cap dump and spare parts gets it done? Lol. He’s not worth a first but he’s worth more than that. Probably closer to a 2nd and 4th and then you have to increase that to get them to take Koski.

Honestly, the Oil should just wait until the deadline. They have 3 NHL able goalies, albeit they are all old and not consistent starters (assuming Smith's magic run stalls at some point). But, odds are one of Smith, Koski, Stalock will be on a decent enough roll at all times to get them to the deadline in decent shape (like last season). There will be more options then once goaltending situations have shaken out/teams have cratered who have good goalies. Also there will be an ever lessening cost of dumping Koski's contract (the last few months of it by the deadline), and more cap breathing room at the deadline.

The Oilers have better things to invest assets in. Like Zack Kassian, and Duncan Keith.

2019-2020 he was carrying the goaltending problem. You are judging him by one bad season

Grab a clue. Edmonton isn't going to downgrade from Koskinen to Korpisalo AND give up assets. And no sane person in the world would give up a 1st for one of the worst goalies in the league! tears of joy tears of joy

If you think he's worth a 1st, than Koskinen must be worth a 1st + a top prospect, because he's better than Korpisalo.

Hard to believe some posters are actually stupid enough to believe Korpisalo is worth a 1st. He's a cap dump.

I have never thought of Korpi as anything more than a bad backup. I just said what the reported asking price is. I think they are insane.

Koskinen has never been more than a KHL goalie. He’s a cap dump. Garbage. Amazed they didn’t buy him out.

If you think it's insane, why are you repeating it? Going around clubbing people who think he's worth less shows your support for the idea that he's worth a 1st.

They didn't buy him out because Holland was the main cause for his poor stats this year when he screwed up the 3rd goalie situation repeatedly in January. This meant that Koskinen had to play an unprecedented 12 games in 24 nights while traveling thousands of miles through 4 time zones - something that no NHL goalie has ever done before. He didn't perform well in that stretch... outside that he posted a .910 for the season, which was above the NHL median. In 2019-20 he posted a .917 save percentage, which was well above average that year. This while playing behind a below average defense.

So he's not garbage at all.
