Hertl is going to cost a heck of a lot more than that. The conversation for Hertl starts with a 1st + top prospect. If you want SJ to retain salary, you're going to have to add more. Also, why does AZ need Doby let alone give up a 3rd when they're trying to stockpile picks?

Yeah. Hertl has to start with a 1st + Bourque

Would Dellandrea fit the bill instead?

He’s only 1.5 years older, but they’re similar players.

From Dallas it has to start with Bourque and a 2022 1st, especially with that kind of retention.. Dellandrea just doesn't do it for us.

Not remotely close to getting Hertl without retention, let alone nearly 50%. You can’t get a teams best player for your scraps and 0 first rounders.

I understand that you would want more for Hertl but calling Faksa and especially Damiani « scraps » indicate that you did not do your homework. Faksa is no Gretzky but is a decent third Center that can play the PK and Damiani is a pretty strong prospect.

That being said, I agree that the current trade scenario is not enough for us to get Hertl.

He's a rental guys. Get off your high horse. Good luck finding a trade partner at your valuation for a rental.

This is a good place to start from. But, I still think this is plenty for a rental. I'd be willing to throw out 2nd and 3rd and give a 1st if it got it done. But I wouldn't do more than that.

It's all a question of how many teams would want Hertl to insure a deep PO run. If the Sharks retains 50% of salary, you just open up a whole new set of competitors and the out bidding contest begins.

Sharks could get a lot from him just as we could get a lot from Klingberg.
