I'm okay with Motte, I've been watching Vancouver games (along with other teams with players we might go after), but I think we need more of a Coleman than a Goodrow type to really improve the team.

Joseph-Colton-Lehkonen smile

I don't think we can make Hagel work without someone ending up on LTIR. 3 seasons of retention is probably a nonstarter for Chicago (even though amount would be relatively small).

Lehkonen kinda lands in my anti Hab blindspot. I wouldn't know what the ask would be. I'm seeing Foote plus a 1st but that seems like a bit much.

Seems like a tricky situation in MTL. Yes they are trash this season, but they are not even a year removed from being 4 games away from a Stanley Cup. MSL taking over seems to have revitalized the team a bit, so they might not want to go full rebuild. So a head turning offer would probably have to be in store. But hey, that's what the Goodrow and Coleman trades were

Who's on our trade deadline wishlist?
Hagel
Jarnkrok
Copp
Lehkonen
Motte

Am I missing anyone?

Personally, I think Namestnikov is someone we should consider too.

1% or greater chance required to make this list. Sticking Out Tongue

That means no reassembling Gourdrowman tears of joy

What about Coltrowman? :-P they're all too expensive.
Lehkonen, Colton, Joseph.... Joltonen? Jolteon? Pokemon line?

I really like Hagel. But chances are pretty slim.
And RHD possibilities out there? I imagine Rutta will be too expensive next season.

I was thinking about Rutta earlier, and I don't think he'd pull more than what Forsling got from the kittens last year. We can afford it next year, but we start getting into cap issues thereafter. So, unless he's cool with a 1 year deal I think we move on.

I don't think there's any RHD options we can afford with term. I think we really need Cernak and Bogo to stay healthy and become consistent. Foote is ready for the 7D role in the playoffs IMO. However, one name I actually like, if we feel inclined to add RHD, is Luke Schenn of all people. He plays 17 minutes a night and could easily slide back into our lineup in a lesser role.

If we're talking dream team Carrier and Jeannot would be awesome. Not very realistic tho

If we're dreaming, I'd throw in Klingberg, but unless there's some salary retained, I don't see how they'd have the space.

Nonetheless, he hasn't retracted his request for a trade. But I actually just saw that Heiskanen is out for a while with mono, so that probably makes Klingberg that much more vital to the Stars-we'll see what happens.

Put it this way: they're not winning the Cup this year, and Klingberg's not re-signing with them. From a long-term perspective (unless they're delusional), it makes all the sense in the world to get something for him now rather than let him walk away for nothing after they get swept in the first round (and that's IF they even make the playoffs).

(Warning: Rant incoming)
So far, this is one of the worst-refereed games in recent memory this side of Leafs-Yotes, and we're ONLY 20 MINUTES IN. 3 penalties got called on the Lightning in the 1st period-the 1st was legit, the 2nd was borderline, the 3rd was a HORRENDOUS call on Hedman-and it came right after they had killed off a 5-on-3. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Seriously, this is abysmal. What's wrong with these zebras?!

Zebras aside, Lightning HAVE to stop missing the net on Grade-A chances. Stammer, Killorn, Kuch-got to give it a chance of going in.

I just hope no clowns try pinning this loss on Elliott.

He was outstanding. Did everything you could ask of him, and even when the Lightning were down 2-0 and taking penalty after penalty, kept them in the game.

AND EVEN then down 2-0, Bogosian makes it 2-1, Sergachev pummels Archibald, all the momentum on their side, then they get a 5-on-3 with a chance to tie the game, don't score on either powerplay, and then make a blind pass which Draisaitl gladly accepts, goes on a breakaway and scores to make it 3-1. Lightning had a golden opportunity to tie this game, and blew it. It's been that kind of week. Poor Elliott...
