Bridge Boeser Fantastical scenario

Description
Suppose we "bridge" Boeser (to UFA) and unload more unfavourable contracts - Pearson Hamonic Myers (which shouldnt be too hard as theyre decent and servicable players). Boeser takes 2 cheap years setting up his 8 year contract age 27-34. Giroux and Pulock are mere representations of players we could have. Maybe Pulock costs more and we only buy a $6 million player for 2 years. That money will go to long term deals for Pettersson and Boeser

Pulock costs more

Boeser probably signs for term for not much more than 7.5. If you're bridging him it should be cheaper. If you're giving him that much get him to term.

I could be wrong about this, but wouldn’t Boeser be 27 at the point of signing the 8 year deal? That would make him UFA, so this wouldn’t really be a bridge, as the term bridge implies RFA expiry. If I’m right about his age, the 2 year term would be a nightmare

pulock would be a perfect fit with the canucks tbh and a great partner for hughes, but he's getting at least 6.5 if not 7 in free agency i'd think.

It isn't easy to trade/dump player without taking cap back in a trade. Canucks are in the bad position of being a bare playoff team if also at the cap limit. How has Benning kept his job for eight years?

OK, call it a 2 year deal. The point is to get him cheap for those two years. Shed salary from Myers (maybe need to sweeten the deal). Now, maybe Pulock comes in at 7. OK. Maybe Giroux isnt 8. The point of the exercise is to look at what can be done in that two year window. It neednt be Pulock or Giroux. Rather, we have 13.5 million to work with. It can be anyone coming in.

Ya, probably more. Some say Giroux's not worth 8 x 2. The point of the exercise is to see whats possible if we unload Myers in particular and sign Boeser short term so he enters UFA waters. Risky yes but when 6 and 40 are up for renewal we have that 6-8 million coming off the books.

Good news, while conceptually, that short term thing is bad, I’m pretty sure boeser was a 10.2(C), so he should still be RFA
