Description

I’ve seen enough of TJ in that first game to know he’s only a number 1C in the preseason. While I don’t have anything specifically against Carpenter and Khaira, I don’t see what they bring to the team that Gaudette and Strome can’t do better. Speaking of better, that’s what Seth Jones needs to be, and I don’t want the hear it from the guy anymore, I want to see it. IMO playing 27 minutes or whatever he did last night is fine, but since very few of them were good minutes I’m hard pressed to figure out a reason why he played for so long. My takeaways are that he is a good skater, but doesn't have much of a shot, and has only a basic ability to run a PP or drive an offense. He looks like he may pick up a bunch of secondary assists, but that’s probably it. In conclusion Boqvist is better.

Not a coincidence that the ice time leader is at the bottom...and ice time laggered is at the top. That's what happens when the team is overall bad. Flawed stat for a single game because Kaner was terrible too. That doesn't mean Seth Jones was good. He was terrible for the 1st 10 minutes of the game. Not an excuse. He needs to be better. Those bottom 5 guys ALL need to be better.

Big mistake to not have Strome in the game. However, I wouldn't put both Strome and Borgstrom on the same line as they both aren't good at defense. So far, I think Borgstrom is another Strome with less offense which isn't a good think. I would sit Borgstrom and play Gaudette up on the RW. I thought Carps had a decent game.

Gallant was right there the whole time...

I'm not saying you're wrong. I just tend toward giving coaches more time than most. Too many times system changes occur in the middle of a season and that's the exact reason things fall apart. If we're going down...go down with the plan in place vs being wishy washy.

So essentially, this chart kinda proves two things.

1) the Blackhawks, as an organization, completely suck at the analytics side of hockey, and
2) why the hell does JC still have a job? He clearly can’t get the best out of this team so why do they pretend he’s capable of doing so?
