Because the Strome's are both free agents next year and the Rangers cant afford to resign both of them long term without it affecting their ability to resign the kids. Also, trading for Dylan blocks the path for Chytil and Barron, and the organization is very vested in Chytil.

Subban has value at the tdl. Maybe not as much as we'd like but something. So your trade is 2 1sts and a 2nd for decent enough guy but no where near worth that amount. Plus u have us eating salary on Subban, not at that cost. Which is not an issue for us, so we wont pay to move him.
