As an Avs fan I'm OK with the Duchene trade. I'm protecting the surgically repaired Varly over Pickard since we're learning Pickard is a bit of a sieve when he's getting the majority of the starts. VGK won't take either of our goalies anyway. I don't understand the UFA signings. We are trying to get younger and rebuild. What would Oshie's role be in that? Why would he want to come here for that?

Sakic or whoever in charge better trade Duchene and Landeskog this summer. Since they were on the trading block in 2016/17 do you want those guys on the club with the disastrous Avs.
Duchene should get good value in a trade (not as much as this Nashville trade) but Landeskog with his declining production...and his contract and term, won't get as much likely as most Avs fans hope.
Avs better score home runs on the next couple of drafts. Despite creating a core of high picks....Duchene, Landeskog, MacKinnon, what good has it really done the Avs?

Landeskog is staying. He asked Sakic not to trade him. Duchene is definitely gone though. Landeskog has been playing through an injury. Hopefully he can heal up over the long summer.

Hey Campbell, do you have any source for that claim?

Hes been open to the media for weeks about it....Back on Jan 17th
    http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/landeskog-wants-remain-avalanche-long-long-time/

“I want to be an Avalanche, to stay an Avalanche and be in Denver for a long, long time,” the 24-year-old told the Denver Post.

There are many quotes like that publicly and I'm sure there are even more privately said about his desire to stay. Duchene seems to be the one who is ready to be traded, not that he is asking or wanting one but I think he realizes that the time has come that he will have to move one. Landy on the other hand doesnt want to go and I think is more than willing to see this through

Unless I'm terrible at reading, nowhere does it say "Landeskog asked Sakic not to trade him" and even if he did, who cares? Sakic can still trade him regardless.

How many times has a player said he want to stay and help the team win only to be traded? Did those guys not-not ask to be traded therefore were traded? OMG i just confused myself.

Point is saying Landeskog won't be traded because he asked it is asinine. What do you expect him to say? "I hate Colorado and can't wait to get out of sh*t hole?"

Coga16. I like your opinions, but some advice. Never believe (well 99% of the time) a player, coach or executive what they say publicly. They don"t throw their teams "under the bus" which diminishes their value in a trade.
Or they want to seen as "spoiled children."
As a rule when a player is drafted by team, he has this conception that this is team through his pro life. It hurts to get traded once, but once it happens, he is now more acclimatized to this process. In his mind he always knew the business, but not in his heart. I'm sure the players (Landeskog, Duchene and MacKinnon) thought in their mind when they signed long term extensions that they would be long term king pins of a successful Avs team, as did the management and fans. Things change.
