Three way deadline deal - just the base
I think Barrie will get the Avs a whole lot more than Jordan Eberle and a 2nd. This really doesn't make sense. Colorado is the only team that loses on this deal by giving up a valuable asset for pieces that aren't anywhere near equal value. Puck moving D-men don't grow on trees.

Krug as your top LD Bjugstad as 2C Varlamov out Trades with BOS FLA PHI
COL would make the trade with FLA, but no way on the Boston one, and I think there is a better deal at the deadline for Varlamov. Krug is good, but not worth those assets at this point in Colorado's rebuild.

Barrie on RW if Makar and Timmins are ready next year
Sorry man, someone needs to be the voice of reason/experience here. My assumption is that you are a huge fan who has never played the sport, or maybe you started playing as an adult, and that’s awesome if so. The problem is that a great puck moving defenseman does not make a great second-line RW. It doesn’t work like that. It would be nice if it did, as that would be much easier solution. I promise Joe Sakic (and every other GM) would figure out this solution for their team if it were realistic. Matt Nieto would be a better second-line winger than Barrie, and he barely makes the roster. Barrie will likely be the RD who will be moved for a true second-line winger at some point. He’s got enormous value to the team, as a trade chip or RD, but not a RW.

Trading the first line
Yeah, any trade involving a key member of the Avalanche going to the Wild needs to be gonged. Also, the Avalanche are not in need of an enormous quantity of players, which is all these trades would be good for. These moves would require the Avs to make about six other moves, none of which make them better than the current team's potential in a few years.

No. Absolutely not. Why would they throw Kamenev into this trade? Bowers? C'mon man. Not happening. Varly for Simmonds is intriguing.

Habs fan trying to be funny? I haven't looked at the other comments, but if this was meant to be serious I'm not sure if you are familiar with either team, the players involved, or hockey in general. Sorry.

Smart Sakic move at deadline IF Ottawa is a last place team ( Lottery Luck)
Why does Colorado trade a top D prospect, and a guaranteed top 5 pick in 2019 for 2020's pick and two-guys who likely walk as UFAs when the season is over? This move doesn't make them a legitimate Cup contender for next year. It probably gets them one playoff round win. This doesn't really make sense for either team. There is a better deal for Ottawa, and Colorado just needs to stay the course they are currently on. No thanks from either side.

A trade for current success
I don't understand this move unless it was a final piece to win a Cup. That's not what this is, so I'd rather hold on to Timmins. Why would they make this move? To hopefully win a playoff round, if they even make the playoffs after St. Louis rebounds next year? I like the way Colorado's rebuild is going so far, and this move doesn't really make any sense.

Gimme that Karlsson
I get the EK love from every fanbase, but giving up that much for a player who is likely to go UFA next year doesn't really make sense. Avs seem like they are on a pretty good path, with lots of assets that can be deployed in the right trades when the time comes. This use of those assets just doesn't feel like it betters the organization long-term. I'm not feeling it, at all.

This is probably the 50th AGM since November from Avs fans suggesting they offer sheet Stone. I don't see it happening, not from Sakic, but maybe I'm wrong. Melnyk deserves it for sure, but the Sens fans don't deserve it.

Hard "NO" on moving Makar at this point. I don't think Roussel adds anything valuable to this team. That dude is Kookoo for Coco Puffs, and will be out of the league in a few years when his role is further diminished, imho. Not entirely against the Ward move since Varly has a glass groin, but that would mean Francouz in the minors. I know he's on a one-way deal, but I'm not sure he sticks it out the full year if he's in the A the full year. Varly will get hurt, so I suppose I feel better with a Ward/Francouz tandem than a Francouz/Martin tandem.

I guess I just don't understand this one. Why would TML do this when their player is only 20-years old, and already pretty dominant? Why would COL do this right as their player is reaching his potential? Weird submission.

HUGE MOVES
If I'm the Avs I don't want RyJo on the team earning more than MacKinnon for the next several years, especially given that MacKinnon is a far more dynamic player. Also, if Nashville is having to shed salary to go after Tavares then why would Colorado give up so many assets to help facilitate this? Colorado doesn't need to do anything at this point in their life cycle. There will be far more beneficial moves they could make to get to the cap floor that do not involve losing Jost, Meloche, and a 1st. That trade really doesn't fit what Colorado or Nashville are trying to do right now unless the Preds intend to flip Jost, Meloche and the 1st for another high end asset. If so I get that for Nashville, but I still don't like it for Colorado.
Yak and Siemens won't be in the NHL next year imho.

C'mon man, the days of Red Wings and Avs fans trolling each other in chat rooms and on forums such as CapFriendly should have ended about 12-years ago. This is pretty immature, but might have been funny back when we both had great teams. You know, I could have created one of these for Detroit trading Stevie Y, and Chris Chelios to Colorado for a 7th round pick and $300. Nice try.

Deal with the Devil... I mean DET
I think the Avs can do much better than Tatar and a 3rd in exchange for Barrie. I'm not sure it makes sense to trade for anybody they cannot control for several years given where they are in their life cycle. There are teams that need Barrie right now who will offer up young higher-end prospects and picks, imho.

A big "NO THANK YOU" from Colorado. We will build around Nathan, and we've got a whole lot of assets already in the system. No need to clog it up with this collection of middling players. Wouldn't mind Patches for a pick and a prospect.

If I'm CBJ I do not send Panarin for Landeskog. Sam Girard for Lucas Sbisa and a 5th? The second worst team in the NHL in 2016-17 did not protect Lucas Sbisa in the expansion draft, but now him and a late round pick are enough to pry away Colorado's best young NHL ready prospect? I suppose I vehemently disagree, times ten.

Colorado Playoff Push
These trades are all pretty bad for one side or the other imho, but the trade with Edmonton is so far in Edmonton's favor that it is hard to take any of this seriously. Tyson Jost is likely to be the best player in the entire trade. The other prospects are all high quality prospects, including JC Beaudin. Your trade mentions Meloche, although he is not shown in the trade. Including him would be insane. You also give Edmonton the better picks. All of this for RNH and Patrick Maroon? Colorado needs to stick with their youth movement. If they were wanting to make a playoff push these are not the trades that would get them there. The quantity of trades would leave the entire organization shell shocked for the next three-months. Perhaps a reasonable trade for Evander Kane would yield some benefits, but the end result here is a team that isn't any better, with a decimated prospect pipeline, and a lack of picks to help rebuild when all is said and done.

You're only $20MM over the salary cap. I'd randomly generate a few more numbers so you've got some healthy scratches on the roster and hit a $100MM payroll.

Fair?
This makes no sense from the Avs side. They are a rebuilding team that made great strides this year with the haul from the Duchene trade. It makes far more sense to stick with these young assets rather than swapping them out for a recently overhauled and aged (although still effective) guy who will likely go UFA in eighteen-months. Even if he would re-sign, this move is the wrong one if Colorado is committed to a proper rebuild. You can make these kind of moves in three-years when there are logjams at certain positions, but Colorado is not at that point yet.
