Why would Ottawa even consider that? Their 2020 1st will be even more valuable without EK and Stone

Those two players at the deadline are worth those three from the Avs....don't need to add anything else.

Stone or Karlsson on their own are worth that package, let alone together and with a pick. That's ridiculous.

Ottawa can get far, far more for Karlsson + Stone. And why would a bottom-feeding, rebuilding team trade their 1st round pick?

Why does Colorado trade a top D prospect, and a guaranteed top 5 pick in 2019 for 2020's pick and two-guys who likely walk as UFAs when the season is over? This move doesn't make them a legitimate Cup contender for next year. It probably gets them one playoff round win. This doesn't really make sense for either team. There is a better deal for Ottawa, and Colorado just needs to stay the course they are currently on. No thanks from either side.

This is a dumb trade all around.
Why would you give up the number 1 overal when you can get Jack Hughes next year with it. That's just stupid decision making. It's getting a top notch talented player on the level of Austin Matthews on the cheap for several years, and then having his rights for several more!

a NY team is most likely going to *cough* *cough* "win" the draft 1st overall, because the NHL can't afford to have both NY teams totally suck. The market is too big.
