Sell at deadline scenario I know you hate it IDC

Description
Worst case scenario there’s UFAs that can still have the chance to get on teams making a push. If Foligno and Jones can pull in 1st rounders so can Radulov.

I don’t know your team’s (not Stars) exact needs just looked at depth charts and found homes for guys I think should get a chance for playoff hockey and just picked teams I had no beef with. Might have even sold Klingberg cheap maybe an additional pick that’s conditional on him either resigning or making cup finals.

For the Stars bring up Harley, Peterson, Dellandrea and Damiani in a low pressure situation out of playoffs and see where they’re at. In the depth roles can rotate between Tufte, Gardner, Caamano, Back etc.

Go back after Klingberg in free agency if it looks like the interested teams with cap space are not where he wants to go. Try to extend Holtby for an Oettinger and Holtby tandem for a couple years since Bishop looks done for good and being so young just isn’t ready for full time starter he should split starts with a veteran. Also when CHL teams are out of playoffs can bring in guys for a few games to AHL or NHL just to see where they are at:Bourque, Johnston, Stankoven, Grushnikov,
Roulette, Arcuri, Holmes, Poirier.

Ok “experts” how far off are the trade values, I know Stars fans think nothing short of McDavid is enough for Klingberg but he just one of many first pair offensive defensemen in the league.

Pavs and Rads out makes extending Robo, Gurianov and the next offseason: Hintz, Peterson, Damiani, Kiviranta, Dellandrea etc depending on who commands money.

  1. Klingberg, John
Additional Details:
Retain whatever salary needed he’s not making too much anyway.
2.
DAL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Radulov, Alexander
Additional Details:
Retain salary needed for helping Boston to fit in cap. Give Hall or Debrusk lines another option for RW.
3.
DAL
  1. 2023 1st round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Pavelski, Joe
Additional Details:
Retain salary needed gives depth option to RW or C.
4.
DAL
  1. 2024 7th round pick (WSH)
WSH
  1. Comeau, Blake
Additional Details:
Yeah I know everybody online has zero use for grinders and every Stars fan thinks the fourth line should be all rookies (scoring and no defense) but he can take some of the work load off of younger players you’d rather be matching up in more favorable chances to score more instead of trying to play against and prevent scoring against top line players.
5.
DAL
  1. 2022 5th round pick (CHI)
VGK
  1. Raffl, Michael
Additional Details:
Whatever draft pick is fair, Fourth round or later unless his production keeps coming he’s a decent depth piece for a run (which in this scenario wouldn’t be Dallas).
6.
DAL
  1. 2023 5th round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Khudobin, Anton
Additional Details:
Again what ever is fair but Khudobin is a solid backup if Smith goes down and Koskinen is still not playing up to expectations.

Pavelski then? Similar deal, retain salary to keep Bruins Compliant and Stars stay above cap floor etc.

Probably depends a lot on how he’s playing. From what I’ve seen now he’s probably just another Charlie coyle, and the move is kind of lateral for boston at the expense of a first round pick. The bruins need a bonafide top six center right now, and I’m not sure pavelski is that.

Maybe, but basically a starting point is 1st rounder plus another pick or prospect. Better 1 first then none if we can’t get him to resign. Which might happen rumors are they are close but Nill won’t go higher but he’ll bend come close to free agency if he’s still GM. I also think as Stars fans we are a bit attached to Klingberg and not always objective. Everyone wants their cake and to eat it too so they value their first round picks (just like we value our players) even if they’re not rebuilding.

I’m sure two firsts or a first and a top d prospect would get tons of the “x team easily declines” 4 word posts.

As far as Radulov goes a late first rounder (Radulov is more valuable than Foligno a he pulled a first). I’d be find with an early second rounder if a contender has some one else’s pick.

Meh I think he’s a solid second kind Center and a power play staple, had 25 goals in the short season on a team that struggles offensively and his game hasn’t really changed he’s never been a speedster but can snipe, tip, one-t, whatever.

I just think Hall just needs someone to play with, who knows maybe they can get Kreji back before the free agent deadline (like the Canes with Justin Williams) so he’s not away from his family the whole year but gets another cup run in.

I agree with the idea of retooling, but those trades are meh imo. Especially the Klingberg one.

Klingberg is on one of the most team-friendly contracts in the league this year, meaning whoever we trade him to likely isn't going to have to move a ton of cap space to make him fit. For a guy that has statistically been one of the better puck-moving, offense-driving defensemen over the last 4 years, the Stars will get more than a 1st round pick & an inconsequential 5th round pick.

Look at what Seth Jones got and use that as a template. Dallas should 100% be able to get a late 1st, and some combination of good prospects and other high round picks for Klingberg

Maybe for a sign and trade, was hoping for rental and getting another chance at him in free agency, some of these big ticket UFA defense are not really living up to their $ (Jones and Peteranglo). And who would be able to swing that cap wise (out of the competitive teams I wouldn’t want him ending up in Arizona, Buffalo or Jersey). For a rental I don’t know how much teams are willing to give up the point is something rather than nothing and getting him on a top 20 team (out of the central) at least.

Ya i think there’s a decent chance krejci comes back.

As far as pavelski goes, which players his age, last season matters zero. It’s a, “what have you done for me lately,” scenario.
