What would Zettenberg cost? Not saying it would happen from either side just wondering as he makes a lot next year while Detroit is rebuilding then drops dramatically to 3.35 then 1 and 1. Weiss is just a filler

If the Flyers are going to go all in as picking up someone like Zetterberg would indicate, they won`t be very successful with that blueline. They are all great young players, with the exception of Gudas, but I would not be confident in having three rookie d-men (Hagg, Morin and Sanheim) on my team. They will need at least one or two solid veteran d-men and probably a better goalie to be anywhere near cup contention.

Philly isn't a playoff team or a playoff caliber team in my opinion. They should be acquiring 20 year olds not 30 year olds. They are nowhere near a Cup run or even the playoffs and probably have to get worse before they can get better. Gotta trade a few core pieces and prospects for real players. Maybe Duchene or Landeskog for a package involving Schenn as the headliner. You'd probably have to add something to Schenn to get either, but I think they're both better players so it'd be worth it.

If it were one year or maybe even two years...i could see this working. But at 36 years old Zetterberg has 4 years left. no thanks.

They probably have the best farm system in the NHL this year and just 5 years earlier it was bottom-5 in the NHL. Duchene is actually closer to age 30 than 20 so you made the case that he shouldn't be acquired. Philly is three years away from making it to the SCF barring that their defensive prospects turn out to be around what they are expected to be. Philadelphia should focus on shedding terrible players (Read, Raffl, MacDonald, Neuivirth, Weise) and their awful contracts before trading for players that are overrated (Duchene). Duchene only has 36 points this year and is getting paid big bucks in 6mil. They should focus on developing Couturier to be a great 2 Center that can run the second PP and run the main PK. He has serious potential to hit 20 goals and 30 assists in the next year or so as long as he plays with guys that are half-decent.

The Flyers need to cut bait with Giroux and Voracek IMO. Trade them and build your team from those pieces and picks.

I guess none of you read the comments section. This wasn't about Weiss or any direction Philly was going in. I was asking what you thought Z's value was?

Zetterberg's value right now is probably a lot higher to Ken Holland than it really is, because Red Wings are always overvalued by management and fans. He's a second line center right now, but his contract is bad and he's old, so his value should be that of a third line center

Zetterberg's contract isn't worth it in my opinion. He's past his best and his contract is for too many more years. If Detroit would eat half the cap then maybe but I'm not sure what he really brings to the table now. Before Zetterberg's deal ends we'll have to re-sign Simmonds, Ghost (maybe twice), Provorov, Konecny, Morin, Myers, Hagg, and possibly Lindblom and Rubstov. While they won't all be eating a ton of cap it's probably $6m we'll want free.

Dale Weise absolutely has zero value, Even a 36 year old Zetterberg is still good for 50-60 points on the top line. Detroit isn't moving their Captain due to the recapture penalty risk. I honestly doubt that Zetterberg would finish his career in Philly. So it's a no go.
