As a Flames fan I would rather have Koskinen over MAF

I don't know if you are trying to make the Oilers suffer or if you're being serious lol

mmm MAF has looked better recently. Only 2 bad starts in his last 5 games. That said yeah its a gamble as he could go back to just being the guy who lets 4-5 goals in a single period.

Kubalik would be an insane pickup but I'd stay away from MAF. All 3 of our goalies have a higher GSAx than MAF so far this year lol. I'd also prefer to add an LD as neither Koekkoek nor Russell have been any good this year.

MAF is playing infront of a really really bad Blackhawks team lol. I still have higher hopes in him then I do for Koskinen.

As for LD I was actually thinking Chiarot in MTL for a 3rd and a 5th. What do you think?

I know MAF hasn't looked great this season. But the Hawks were also playing horribly in front of him. That and all the stuff going on around the team was probably having an indirect effect on morale all around. I'll bet that any goalie in the league would have floundered behind the Hawks those first 12 games with the way they were playing.

That being said, if the hawks are sellers at the deadline they probably don't use their only two retention slots left on those two unless it's last minute and there isn't any interest in anyone else. Also, Oilers fans might want to consider a MAF and Koskinen 1-2 punch for playoffs and propose some other pieces for him. His contract is up after the season, so it's not like you'd be locked into anything long term that would put you in big cap trouble. And the Hawks don't really NEED to get rid of anything, which would give them the upper hand in any TDL deals.

I agree with mostly everything except for 2 points.

Smith is locked up to 2 years, and Holland is devoted to keeping him. Its either MAF and smith punch or the MAF trade doesnt happen at all.

You're right that CHI holds all the cards here. Which is why I think the 3rd will be necessary for the trade, however if you look at the blackhawks roster, and who they have expiring, its only MAF and Kubalik of note this ear, which means they will 100% use their retention spots on them

MAF 100%... Unless they go full on rebuild and there is heavy interest in Kane and/or Toews and they are willing to waive. In which case, they will need to utilize those retention slots for them absolutely. But Kub's... the pot would probably have to be pretty sweet for them to give him up because of his affordability, upside, and age. I would think they would want to keep him around as long as possible. But then again, with an interim GM and a directive to rebuild and get as many picks and prospects as possible, he definitely could be on the block come TDL. I still think the pot would have to be pretty darn sweet for them to move him but yeah it's possible.

I can't see the hawks moving kubs for a late 1st and 3rd assuming you were saying MAF is a 2nd. He's young, doesn't have much NHL mileage on his skates, and a premier sniper that also is pretty decent in the d zone. A late 1st is nothing but a bag of magic beans that odds are won't result in a player near as good as Kubs. This would be a steal for the Oilers though.

Look at the stats - Chicago has allowed fewer shots and High Danger chances than Edmonton has. The idea that Fleury's poor numbers are on the team in front of him is utter nonsense.
