would toews waive

Created by: Dekes

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 16, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Toews, Jonathan ($4,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
toews is no longer a true 1c, he is more fit for a 2c role, he isn't as dominant defensively and has not been in the top 15 for selke voting since 2016-17
his point totals haven't been overly impressive so far and he is in a scoring drought but i do believe that could be somewhat to do with colliton's system. still though i think fair value for toews is a young nhl forward a b tier prospect and a 1st the only thing i could see drawing bruins away from trade is paying for retention as i could see sweeney rather paying slightly less for miller or hertl and getting a better player just do to less picks because no retention needed
CHI
  1. Beecher, John [Reserve List]
  2. DeBrusk, Jake
  3. 2022 1st round pick (BOS)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (BOS)
  5. 2024 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
debrusk+ 1st+ beecher = toews
2nd+ 3rd= retention
*2nd conditional( bruins make it past 2nd rd)
pick defers to 2023 3rd if not
2.
BOS
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (NSH)
NSH
  1. Reilly, Mike
Additional Details:
third pair LHD good with a defensive dman, can run PP2, not the greatest shot, but good passer
3.
BOS
  1. McNabb, Brayden
Additional Details:
buffalo needs to clear almost 11 mill in cap once pax, eichel off LTIR i see them moving smith and mcnabb to get a good chuck out as they both have positive value, most likely moving smith for a cheaper third line option, mcnabb will be a draft capital or prospect move and then i see them moving dadonov or janmark. janmark is a ufa and should get them a mid rd pick or they move dadonov but due to him being on contract for 2 years at 5 mill teams could take advantage of vegas and either lowball them or try to get picks back as a cap dump.
VGK
  1. Vaakanainen, Urho
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (CGY)
4.
BOS
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (TOR)

Boston like VGK need cap space crucially too tho

Mcnabb would be fine at league minimum

But trading vaakanainen for him too much

i don't see vaak cracking bruins line-up with forbort, grzz, reilly locked up for 3 years, would rather upgrade over reilly and vaak with mcnabb, he's pretty underrated and is a top 4 dman who would slot nicely with mcavoy. he's been putting up decent numbers too for the type of defenceman he is, if he can succeed with theodore then he will most likely thrive with mcavoy

Not at all sure why you're paying Vegas so much to do them a huge favor.

This is bad for CHI. You're A.) over-rating Beecher....by alot. His ceiling is a #3C in the NHL if he even reaches that. He's struggled to scored at every level he's ever played. He's currently on a team with literally 8 NHL 1st round picks. B.) HAWKS DON'T WANT DEBRUSK! Every BOS fans really really wants CHI to want Debrusk. We don't want him. C.) The 2022 1st is fine, but a late 1st round pick doesn't get you two years of Toews retained. Even if Toews would waive for BOS, CHI would still say no because BOS doesn't have the pieces required.

yes but toews is not who he once was all his stats and advanced stats show that, i haven't watched him play yet but everything ive heard is toews is a 2c now. so idk what kinda return you think you will get for a 2c but if anything im already overpaying. whether you like debrusk or not he is still value and bruins will need to move cap, im sure a third team could be involved to take debrusk and you get picks for him

I've watched just about every Hawks game this year. The 1st few games were rough for Toews, but when you don't play for a full year combined with the rest of the team playing poorly...yeah his metrics are still skewed. BUT even when you say "his advanced stats show that". He has a 17.9% CF Rel. That's insane! Especially, if we're considering that bad somehow. It's the Hawks system under JC that was the issue. He's driving the play for CHI much like Kaner does. He's 60%+ at the dot and clearly defensively sound. I understand that BOS will play him as a #2C, but he'd be the 2nd best #2C in hockey behind Draisaitl. Better than Tavares for sure. He makes everyone else around him better.

Simply put, he's been really good to be perfectly honest. I'd prefer CHI to sit down and ask him what he wants to do. If he wants to be in CHI...I'd extend him to a reasonable contract. "reasonable" is vauge, but Toews has been really good and I'd like to see him stay.
