Hopefully that missing 1st round this year is just outside top 2. Columbus could use it and the Blackhawks organization doesn't deserve it.
edmonton would most likely take that trade

    You can do better

Trade Kubalik for a 1st (Despite the slower start we know what he can do)

Strome for a 2nd or 3rd (Looking at you Minnesota)

3-way trade MAF without needing to take on anything so in the end his cap hit is 1.75mill for his new team (Tampa gonna somehow make it work)

Trade Gaudette and Carpanter for low picks as contenders seem to like guys like them

The De Haan trade though could happen in that manner to get maximum value

They could get a little more for flower if they have to take back turris and koskinen. His value should be a 2nd if he's half retained. Taking back that much cap should up the return for Chicago.

Bingo. Flowers retained as a stand alone deal is a late 2nd rounder; taking back cap easily pushes that to a late 1st.

Chicago owes Edmonton for getting a better defenseman and no cap retention for Keith.

Would be dumb to trade Kubs for anything less then a top 20 pick and even then, it's a big gamble by the Hawks. How many draft picks from say the range of #10 overall to #20 overall become a top 25 goal scorer in the league (defensive players aside)? That's a small percentage so the likelihood of landing a player in the draft as good as Kubalik or better is less then good.

If only the business world worked that way but it doesn't. Whether Caleb is better then Keith is also TBD as he hasn't played a game yet for the Hawks due to injury and he's not a shoe-in over Stillman or Kalynuk either so I would say as of now from the Hawks experience Keith is providing more value in the NHL.

I agree with chihawk. Just to elaborate more, I don't see why Kubalik returns any less than what mantha got last year (Vrana, Panik, 1st, 2nd)
