Hörnqvist seems like the type of player you want on your roster to make a cup run

Maybe with half retention, but Florida can't afford to have any of his cap hit on the roster beyond this season. Definitely makes him a good target for a team that can take his cap hit and flip it with retention at the deadline, they could come out as big winners if they're in that situation.

Oilers are good with keeping Kassian, we need some to fight who isn't Nurse because Nurse is to valuable to the team he can't get injured, Oilers only do this if they really really need cap space to resign JP and yamo. Kassian is not negative asset he is overpaid but he is still good player to have on your team.

Hörnqvist doesn't have negative value. Some team will take him for free, but the Panthers don't have to pay anyone to take him.

Hornqvist Byron and Kassian are all decent bottom six forwards, but no teams have cap space for these players. Cap space is so crucial, tell me a contender who have enough space for a 3M+ bottom six forward … none and rebuilding team don’t NEED those players. MTL EDM FLO need to move these players so they’ll have too pay. Like Gostisbehere, he isn’t a bad player but when the team need cap space, they have too pay

I see the title says something about taking cap dumps I seen oilers logo but I don’t see a cap dump coming from Edmonton. I see kass who is worth every penny he gets when healthy not sure why Edmonton would even consider moving him.

If you are short on money to resign JP & Yamamoto
Byron and Horqvist are wayyyy better than Kassian and they are still considered cap dump for other GMs

I wouldn’t say way better. Different players different style of play considering the make up of oilers roster I’d happily have kass over them. Different roster possibly want one of the others depends on what team needs more of in oilers case is brute strength and speed kass is the best combination.

A team on the rise would kill for a guy like Hornqvist, who sets a winning culture in the team, just like he did with the Panthers. Off the top of my head, at least Ottawa, Columbus, LA, Anaheim and Detroit could be possible destinations for him.

Pretty sure Tampa bay had a couple 5.15 million forwards on 3rd line in jani Gourde and others.

According to this website, there are 192 forwards making over $3M per year. When you figure that there are lots of young top-6 guys making less than $3M, logic dictates that the starting salary for bottom-6 players is more than $3M, probably around $3.5M. Therefore a guy like Kassian is being paid like a high-end liner, and he's currently producing like a high-end 3rd liner (193rd in the league 5v5 P/60). That combined with his physicality means the Oilers aren't giving up assets to move him.
