Not sure what the return for Fiala would be. Normally the ask would be 1st+prospect, but given your 1st is off limits, we'd probably ask for an NHL ready young center in return, which pretty much narrows it down to Pinto, plus a minor pick.

I would hate to lose him, but I think the move is trade Connor Brown for a 1st + and use that 1st to get Brock Boeser. Ideally you could offer a package that doesn't include a 1st or CB28, but for a player of that quality it's not realistic at all. If you can turn Connor Brown into Brock Boeser it's WAY easier to fill out the 3RW spot compared to the 1/2RW.

I think the Sens should forget about this season (standings wise) and reset for next year. There should be capable UFAs available and Sens are one team with cap. Sens have bee hit hard by Covid, but they have a good base and still is a team on the rise.

I already did that after White and Pinto went down. No one can expect this team to even be .500 without Pinto and White and playing a bottom 4 of Josh Brown, Mete, Del Zotto and Zaitsev lol

My only issue with Connor Brown is age and contract status. He’s going to be a UFA at 29 and probably looking for a Coleman type contract of at least 6 years at around 5 mill

I love him, but I don't think he's a Senator on his next contract, so I think they're ultimately better recouping as much as they can and replacing him with a younger, more offensive RW.

Of the selection I'd prefer Naz, Giroux, Voracek or Boeser.

Not sure Voracek is available as the BJ's just traded for him.

Giroux could be had in the summer as a FA but I have a feeling he'll want to play on a contender to try and win a cup before he hangs them up.

I'm not sure Naz would want to play in Canada again after the abuse he took in Toronto and he'll be looking for a massive pay day if he keeps tearing it up.

This leaves Boeser. He fits the timeline a bit better being only 24. He went to UND like seemingly every other player on the team. My worry would be the ask, and what his next contract would look like. It would have to be picks and prospects, possibly Brannstrom or White. As for a contract, it's tough as he hasn't played a full season yet whether it be because of injuries or COVID so it's hard to say. He's a potential 30G scorer, 60 pt guy. What are those worth, 7-8M, more, idk?

Another interesting player if Van is tearing it down would be Horvat. He's a bit older than Boeser, similar point totals per year, a good leader, plays a heavier game than Boeser and is is a centre. He'll be a UFA after next season so if there were a trade in the summer for him I would have to have it come with an extension.

Boeser would probably start with Bernard Docker imo. Vancouver desperately needs a 2 way RD who can defend. White + JBD and a 2nd would be fair imo but if Vancouver is insisting on a 1st, I’d protect next years and include it. As long as Boeser signs longterm of course

Yeah, I don't mind that. I like JBD but I could stomach that provided his extension is reasonable.

With Thomson looking great , I would move JBD in the right deal
