I don't think Guentzel's value is that much higher than Boeser's if at all honestly. Vancouver wouldn't come asking for Guentzel anyway knowing he's untouchable for the Pens

Both players seem to top out as 60-70 point scoring wingers. How is Guentzel's value that much higher than Boeser's?

More consistent. Consistently better production. Overall better at hockey.

Boeser has had a number of strong season's in the past, and he is younger than Guentzel

Guentzel is literally a point per game player.

Okay, yeah, looking at his stats, he is. So what kind of money do you suppose he could ask for on his next contract?

Tough to say. He is signed for 2 more seasons after this. If he keeps up that point per game pace and pops a few more 35+ goal seasons he will likely cost at least 8mill per, if not in the 9-10 range? Also depends on the cap situation.

$9-10 million on a long-term deal for a 29 year old (that's how old Guentzel will be when he's due for a new contract). Yikes!

Yah, I figure Zibanejad just got 8.5 on his deal, he will be 29 when that deal kicks in. So Jake would likely be around his cost. 8.5 to 9.

I would have a bad feeling about such a rich extension for Guentzel if it comes to pass, as much as he will rightfully deserve that money in the short-term

Yah, if it was like a 4 year deal I'd be ok with it, but paying a 35 year old that kind of money is a huge gamble.
