Namestikov is a great fit and loves it here. He will be extended in Detroit, mark my words.

I would love it if Namestikov resigned. Yzerman has brought in so many former bolts because he knows them and personally I love it. But tbh I was really considering that trade before I realized it was in 2024 and not 2022 as much as I like him I think it would be pretty stupid to pass up a 33-40 overall pick for him.

I'm not saying the value isn't there, or I wouldn't take it, I just doubt he'll ever even make it to the trade block.

Detroit trade is an overpayment by Van, Dickinson alone should be enough to get Namestnikov as a rental

Seattle trade is an overpayment by Vancouver as well, 1st rounder should be replaced with a 2nd. Pooman's value isn't as detrimental as some think it is

And take out the 3rd rounder in the Arizona trade, Hamonic alone should be enough to get Lyubushkin

No way Walman is worth a 4th rounder, he hasn't done diddly squat for St. Louis. I think it's only a matter of time before he gets waived

All that said, I don't mind the New Jersey trade, so please don't think I'm here just to rip on these takes for the sake of it. I'm trying to give my honest opinion

Sharangovich is deal-breaker for NJD. He is going nowhere.

A Severson-for-Boeser deal is possible, I suppose. Devils would probably have to find another RD elsewhere.
And Clarke, the picks are all likely in play.

But no Yegor.

You also have to consider Yzerman didn't protect Namestnikov. I'd like to se him resign but I'm not as sure you.

And the 2nd, I'm even tempted to say Detroit needs to add a mid-round pick or something

Right, but we also don't know what kind of conversations they had prior to that. There were only so many protection spots available and he had to make some hard decisions. Might have been a calculated gamble with only 1 year left on his deal after a down year.

I could be wrong, but with the way he's playing this season, the history he has with Yzerman, his versatility and his reasonable value, combined with his outward desire to stay here, just makes sense to extend the guy to me.

I also think, symbolically, they need to stop being sellers at the deadline (NOT be buyers, just stand pat) to turn the corner at some point and I think this is the year to do it.

I appreciate the feedback! I don't follow VAN but have a general idea of their needs. I basically tried to address those needs (plus a bit more) with an assumption of what their current players values are vs. what the opposing trade partner would ask for, especially considering trying to ditch some of their contracts on VAN.

I think our minds think somewhat alike smile
