Based on my model that predicts the Habs will finish 30th in the league. 200 simulations of the lottery produce the most likely result will be the 3rd overall pick.

Habs pick Kemell due to promising offensive numbers in a top-tier professional league. Poehling, Norlinder & Guhle are all given chance for consistent playing time and development.

Chiarot/Kulak, Lehkonen, Wideman & Montembault trades are all from previous trade deadline's CapFriendly. Allen, Drouin & Armia deals provide even more draft capital for Gorton and the new GM to utilize and free up playing time for younger players. Harris traded to LA for Vilardi as there is an unclear path to playing time with the Habs. Gally has stated he does not want to be a part of a rebuild, flipped to the Rangers who can use a guy who shoots as much as he does. Kravtsov signed to a two-year prove it deal.

Primeau finally gets the chance to backup Price and show management what he has going forward in order to evaluate the future of the goaltending position for the organization. Stapley, Roy & Weiss signed after Stapley has a decent senior season at Denver (averaging a point per game), Roy is 2nd in the QMJHL in scoring, and Weiss is a point per game at Nebraska-Omaha. Roy given a chance to make the team, just misses and plays in Laval until ready to be called up. Brook & Khisamutdinov are given one more chance to show value.

Re-signing Perreault (helps resolve the QC issue) as well as signing DeKeyser provides more depth, veteran leadership, and safety net for young players if they need to be sent to Laval/Europe for a team entering year two of a proper rebuild (retool).
