Thoughts on the deals:
Drouin-COL
- Feel like the Habs are losing value here, trading Drouin for what amounts to two 3rd rounders. I admit both are extremely young and therefore raw, but there are certainly teams who would be willing to at least flip the Habs a young player who needs a change of scenery (ex. Vilardi)
Lehkonen-NYR
- Unpopular opinion, but I said months ago Lekky would fetch a first, and will stand by this until proven otherwise. Feel like Cuylle & 2nd amount to that value, which is a fair move for both teams + Cuylle's route blocked by so many LW in NYR organization (maybe only Chytil would be moved at this point).
Chiarot-BOS
- Might be a tough sell to BOS, they are not in the best shape prospect-wise, even though this seems like fair value, may not be to the best interests of their team to trade one of their top pieces. They also seem more of a bubble team in the respect that they aren't really Cup contenders, so selling off pieces for a few weeks of Chiarot is a tough ask
Petry-PIT
- Massive overpay on PIT's end even to get off of Zucker's deal and Habs trade for another Cap headache in Zucker. Moving two of their top prospects in Poulin (top prospect) and Belliveau + lower end is the equivalent of two firsts for a clearly disgruntled and burnt out Petry.
Kulak-FLA
- Probably fair value
Wideman-COL
- Wideman wouldn't even play on either of COL's PP units and that is essentially all he is at this point (and isn't even all that effective at his supposed speciality)
Allen-EDM
- No chance. Bourgault is going to be an impact player...Habs fans need to move off of this one

Don't see you winning the cup with any of those guys, but we will see

Not saying that trade necessarily but see a lot of Avs fans disregarding almost any trade for Price. MTL is not selling off their future HOF goalie for nothing (especially after what him and his family have been through in the last little while). What do you think is fair value?

Don't love that trade for the Habs. They get another middle 6 winger with a relatively high cap hit. Would probably take some picks and a prospect over that deal during the offseason

Lavoie is definitely fair value for Chiarot, as an early second rounder, but I think Lagesson is really where this trade would fall short. Need something with a little more potential than a fourth rounder who doesn't really have impressive numbers at any level

Seems like Arizona isn’t going to want established players at this point. Would say they’ll definitely ask for a first (given guys like foligno fetched a first last season) and prospects

For sure interesting, but I think Habs would have to turn that down as they’d be left with two NHL centres, especially if they lose danault as well

Habs dont have to lose Chairot either, leave Weber exposed, they arent going to take that contract on, then you keep your top 4 together and can focus on trading for a winger instead.</div></div>
I get what you’re saying, but think about how the Habs literally had to play 4 D for the entire playoffs, and how much it would help not taxing those guys every single game. Plus Jones helps with PP which is still an area that the team desperately needs to improve in. Also, there really isn’t all that much cap space left (unless Armia walks) for a more impactful winger. I see what you’re saying about protections too, but there is no way they leave the captain unprotected, especially after the incredible effort he just gave all playoffs long.

Realistic Yet Great Offseason
I also don’t think ikonen will be getting an ELC. He has always been hurt and even when healthy really not shown that much.
I agree with your deal for lekky, but I think you’ve got the structure of the deals for danault and Tatar backwards. I think it’s more likely danault resigns on a cheaper short term deal to try and rebuild some of his lost value this season and Tatar would sign a cheaper long term deal for security as he really hasn’t been as successful anywhere else.
Protections make sense, but I wonder if MB could convince Weber to allow himself to be unprotected. Seattle isn’t going to take that cap hit with his production and it would allow us to either protect chiarot or kulak instead.
Depends on how NSH finish the season, but I still think ekholm will cost a little bit more (even on an expiring deal) than olofsson. In fact I think olofsson is done with the Habs anyways, kind of similarly to ikonen and with more promising prospects being picked this year. I would think ekholm would cost more like two decent prospects (tuch, struble, Harris) and the picks attached. But honestly, I don’t think they’ll move him now and might look to resign with the way the younger guys have been contributing and making them very competitive.

Yeah, but there is the risk of him electing to become a FA next year with him going back for his senior year and the amount of LHD depth MTL has

Yes, to the first two, but for what reason would the Habs move Edmundson for PK and his salary when Edmundson is legitimately a way better D at this point in their careers?

Find a way to sign Dadonov or at the very least Duclair, still haven’t found a way to solve the biggest problem which is no one puts the puck in the net consistently. I get neither one of those guys moves the needle all that much but it’s better than betting on the team as it’s currently constructed
