Since the Oilers are in a playoff run, they will keep Koshiken as they need an NHL goalie who is ready to play.
I guess the question for next summer is, can the Oilers find a better goalie than Price for four years at 5.25m or less, and not give up their first rounder as proposed.

I like it, if Price is ready to go. Koskinen is here now and at times has looked like the old Koskinen. But, this year he's in a contract year and of our wins he has stolen us a few. He could take us on a 2016 Talbot like playoff run.

I think if the Oilers' deem that Price is ready to go and back in his form, then it would be tough to aquire a goaltender of his caliber at $5.25 per. The term is long, but if you're getting playoff Price in the playoffs, it's a great dea. Koskinen is the cap dump, and they may need to throw in another dump as well, but a (late) first and Bourgault would probably be the going rate for him if they eat half his salary.

Thought about Samorukov in there too.

That's a good thought, though they do have so many left-shot defensive prospects, most of which project to be solid/good/great NHL players in the near future. I assume they would ask for (but may not get) a right-side defensive prospect or another lower pick/prospect.

If I were them, I would ask for Holloway. I could see a scenario in which the Oilers would counter with Lavoie, and they will meet in the middle and receive Bourgault. That's just me, though. smile

This is a MASSIVE overpay. Easily declined by Edmonton.

No, No and No...

Unlike the average fan in here, GMs are still well aware of Price's value. At $5.25M he is an absolute steal, and wouldn't have to drag Oilers to success, but would anyway.
