I'd heavily consider that if I'm NJ, there's a solid chance VGK picks in the top 15 and Smith has been our worst player this year.

Ty Smith has played 18 games this year and about 12 or them were AHL-worthy at best. But he started the year injured and still doesn’t look 100%. His confidence has clearly taken a hit too. He has improved lately, but disappointing season so far.

That said, I don’t think Devils bail on him. NJD likely says “thanks, but no thanks”.

If it's a "rebuild", you definitely flip Smith and McNabb. Janmark for a low pick adds some cushion as well.

Vegas is 18th in the league with a ton of injuries
They're going to be healthy soon so I doubt its top 15
