How do you afford the extension Couturier already has?

Wild really don't need any wings, asking price is cheap so maybe Billy considers it, but wing is pretty set.

The equivalent to that Couturier trade would be Ottawa offering you Roby Jarventie, Zach Sanford and a 2nd round pick for John Tavares.
Would you do that? If not, Philly also says no.

If we didn't have a glut of talented winger prospects, I think we'd take this, but we have better options that we could call up from Iowa

A healthy Boldy is probably the only guy in Iowa that could be better than a healthy Mikheyev this season for MN. But unless MN has 2 FWDs out then there isn't any need for any more FWDs with depth already on the NHL roster. I'd rather give some of the kids a cup of coffee if there are multiple injuries during the season.

If this trade was made at the TDL I wouldn't be mad, Playoff depth and all. If the trade didn't happen I wouldn't be mad either. I think I'd make the condition getting to the 3rd round and playing in half the games.

I agree, Boldy is the only player that's probably better than Mikheyev right now, but if we're acquiring Mikheyev I think the idea would be to try and have him figure out his game and have him long-term and with how many winger prospects we have there just isn't room to try that experiment. Maybe I'm totally off and we'd just use him as a rental... I dunno, I'm talking myself into it now. I think I'm with you - wouldn't be mad about it happening and wouldn't be upset if it didn't. Still would rather give a depth spot to one of our Iowa prospects.

Getting him just as a rental would be the intention. If he works out and they re-sign him for cheap, fine. If he walks as a UFA, fine. He's not the position or player of choice I'd go after at the TDL, but if nothing else panned out this would be a decent depth add for the team. With the cap the way it is, I think any rental traded for this year is just that: a no strings attached rental for the rest of the season.

If Iowa is in the AHL Playoffs then one of the kids are getting games there instead of watching from the pressbox as the 13/14 FWD for the NHL Playoffs.
