Yeah, Yandle is bad. Like nuclear waste bad. Dubas would not even pick him up on waivers.

Deadline deals are seldom fair straight up hockey deals in 2021 Maple Leafs traded for Nick Foligno got 2021 first-round pick and 2022 fourth-round pick, retain 50 percent of Foligno's contract also Brenden Dillon was traded from Sharks to Wash for 2020 second-round pick and a 2021 third-round pick. Islanders Jean-Gabriel Pageau was traded from Senators to Islanders for 2020 conditional first-round pick 2020 second-round pick and a 2022 third-round pick In 2019 Jets trade for Kevin Hayes and Rangers got Brendan Lemieux, 2019 first-round pick and 2022 conditional fourth-round pick
Ristolainen is a 2nd pair Dman and could fill in as top pair in case of injuries. You may not like the deal but Washington's window of winning another the cup with Ovi is shrinking and Risto maybe one of the best Dman on an expiring contract available for trade at deadline.

Jones sucks, three straight seasons of sub .900 percentage a losing record this year, and Francouz is healthy now. No thanks from the Avs.

Dubas traded a 1st and a 4th for Foligno so.... this looks like a pretty good deal

Why would the Oilers entertain moving their top prospect who has an elite ceiling for a 34 year old rental?

Tough to justify a decade + of Holloway for 20 games of Giroux haha

Don’t know who Phillies prospects are but would you move Cam York for Getzlaf if you were 3rd in your division?

If the Flyers had McDavid and Draistail, they had a really good shot at making the playoffs and needed secondary scoring I would. I'm guessing that the Oilers would like to win the Cup at least once while they have McDavid and Draisaitl so giving up a top prospect (who's never played game in NHL and coming off two surgeries) to get some secondary scoring might be something they would entertain, Giroux doesn't add any cap space for the next year also a good thing. Deadline deals for teams wanting to add to win the cup always have to give up some of their future, look back at previous deadline deals. In hindsight lots of deals turn out bad but again GM's and Owners know how important it is to go deep into playoffs and possibly winning the Cup. Possibly Giroux isn't the player that the Oilers need but if they want to give their fans and McDavid a chance to win the Cup while he is still an Oiler they will have to give up something to do that.

Jones isn't being dealt to replace Francouz but to replace the guys that have been playing while he was hurt. Its a deadline deal to add depth for playoffs maybe they can acquire a better goalie than Jones but they clearly need to get a backup.
