Trade Schneider for a 38-year old defenseman.....that's freaking BRILLIANT!!! Only a Devils fan could be so smart.

While it is a bit of an overpayment his age is irrelevant as a rental. He still performs like a strong 2-way top 4 defenseman with proven leadership skills.

The point is giving up a 20 year old with tons of potential for a rental.....its nonsense.

As I said, it's a bit of an overpayment. However at 50% Gio should return at least a 1st in value from a contender. My point to you was more the point about Gio's age and how that is irrelevant as he is a rental

Here, instead of trying to sell the Sabres another left-shot defenseman - let us give you Collin Miller ($1,935,000 retained) + 2023 2nd Philly for Schneider now you can trade Hájek + 2022 2nd round pick (STL) and 2022 4th round pick (WPG) for Giordano - you are up the 2023 2nd from PHI

Yeah- but that doesn't mean its smart...NYR FO need to look in the mirror and realize this team even with a few moves is still not on the same cup contending tier as the Avs, Vegas (w/healthy Eichel), TBL, CAR, or FLA. That said: can they win the cup? Maybe...any and all of those teams mentioned can falter come playoff time...but to put so many resources into a one year sprint is beyond stupid...if Drury plays his cards right the Rangers will still be a contender this year (with an outside shot) but will become a top tier contender next year and beyond for several years...what he should be trying to achieve is what the Red Wings and Devils did for 15-20 years...not what the Rangers did in 1994. Of course can never complain about that 1994 team- but they came real close to having that blow up in their face.

Sabres dont have any need for hajek, and i think miller retained gets a third minimum, maybe a second.

Who cares about his value as a rental? My post is about how the trade itself is nonsense for the Rangers. Let someone else rent him.
