Both teams decline. MTL isn't giving that much up for a defenceman that can help a team win NOW.

Arizona isn't giving up their MVP for that, they can get better quality elsewhere I imagine.

Chychrun is amazing: a talent to build around, not trade.

That said, two (most likely) pretty high picks (maybe even top 10), Romanov/Guhle, Poehling, and a potential starting netminder - all making league minimum - and a solid bottom 6 forward in Armia isn't terrible. I don't think the Coyotes would ever do it, but it isn't terrible. I mean, the Canadiens are pretty awful right now: that 2023 1st could potentially be top 2. Could you imagine if the Coyotes got BOTH Bedard AND Michkov in the 23 draft???? Their offense could potentially be set for the next 15 years.

Arizona easily accepts this. They have two shots at lottery picks in deep drafts.
