Salary Cap Mode: Basic

Description

Assumes Sens get first overall but Wright could be swapped for Savoie or Cooley or Geekie as well in the draft. Taking a pass on Lambert hype as he is listed at #2 or #15 depending on who you listen to.

Forsberg trade based on standard value for good backup based on past trades. That is - less than Allen (3rd +) but more than Subban (5th).

Tierney trade is a question mark as he's have a bad season but could revitalized and show a 3C value by TDL for a team like Boston who has to push. Assumes a same division added ask for Tierney rental.

Cap move sends White to Arizona for bumped up 2nd (Arizona spot for TBL) and a 5th. Brannstrom also gets a fresh start swapped for Capobianco +3rd.

Assumes the Knights can't retain Reilly Smith due to cap crunch and take a 6th for early right - and he signs in Ottawa to play with Wright, up and coming Ottawa.

Zaitsev decides not to play / can't play (no reason - just because) and able to sign Butcher on a new start contract.

Should give Send a decent 1-2 lines, a potentially every strong 3rd line and a gritty 4th.

Chabot and Sanderson anchor D with Lassi, JBD growing and Zub and Butcher adding depth.

Murray platoons with Gustavsson as he gets more comfortable after re-finding his game (or is replaced by another player).

Feel free to hack away at my rational.

I would put this team in the 15-23 overall finish but with lost of potential to get better.

That’ll be a no from Arizona. No need to for this. Stay at 33 and Ty Nelson might be there, and you’re not taking on a bad contract while giving up picks to do it

1. You are 200 grand short of Victor Mete's QO.

2. Chris Tierney is not signing that, nor will he be coming back next year.

3. Reilly Smith is not signing that.

4. You're overpaying Will Butcher and he would be Del Zotto 2.0 if he came to Ottawa.

5. Getting a 3rd round pick for Anton Forsberg would be like pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

Yup - my bad- but he isn't worth $1.2 M.

Supposed to be a TDL 2022 trade - contract amount was just to out him on the roster.

3. Reilly Smith is not signing that.

Smith is a 20 goal / 50 pt guy. He isn't elite enough for a massive contract and will be caught as teams can't afford middle talent big contracts. I think $5.5M was enough for what he will get ($5M) + a come to Ottawa bonus. But as with #1 - I've been wrong before.

4. You're overpaying Will Butcher and he would be Del Zotto 2.0 if he came to Ottawa.

Yup - definitely high risk contract. Ottawa will need to over pay to get people to sign there. Might have gone over on that one.

5. Getting a 3rd round pick for Anton Forsberg would be like pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

Forsberg's numbers are worth a low 3rd for a competitive team trying to get to a Cup. None of the teams seeking a backup upgrade or better #3 for insurance are giving up much. Most 3rds don't get to the NHL.

6. That Arizona trade is absolutely horrifying.

- Don't sign Tychonick, he's a bust and have to be careful with 50 contracts limit
- Boucher's ELC will be $925,000. EDIT : contract is already signed
- Same for Kleven at $925,000, not sure where you're going with all the ELCs random amounts
- Abramov has decided to play in the KHL for AT LEAST 2 years. Doubt the Sens will sign him, not clear if he has any NHL future as of now. Best for him would be to become a significant KHL player first, a bit like Dadonov did
- Brannstrom and Formenton will probably be worth more than that. You might want to go long term on Forms to save. Brannstrom might just be traded by then (well I hope, before they continue to let his value plummet)
- That Norris contract is the worst possible scenario, walks him right into UFA.
- Paul will be slightly more expensive, at least 2.5 AAV
- Re-signing Chris Tierney? WHY? WHY? WHY?
- Signing Will Butcher to this contract when the Devils literally dumped him on the Sabres? Not the type of D-man they need at all
- This trade with Coyotes is really bad for the Sens

It just doesn’t help Arizona at all. I’m not high on brannstrom at all, like I said I think there’s a good chance Ty Nelson is there who’s a similar player. The white contract is almost the same as schmaltz, and while we love him he can’t stay healthy. We don’t need the identical player of that
