Description
I don't know what Lindholm will get in free agency, and I'm assuming here that Romanov is comfortable on the right side. But here's a possible roster that would be better than 31st.

Your premise that Vegas can take on cap dollars is wrong. They sit some 9 million over the cap and when Eichel comes back they need to shed dollars to meet cap limit. They can not do so without dumping cap and using picks and prospects to do so, can not see them taking on more cap.

Signing Lindholm makes no sense.

We already have Guhle harris norlinder romanov and edmundson for LD its not a position we need to be spending big money long term on especially when you havent even touched the center position.

This is a 22-23 season GM. Assuming Vegas let’s Smith and McNabb go and that they trade Dadonov, I could easily see them accepting that deal. It’s a downgrade from Smith, for sure, but the Knights can’t afford to resign him.

romanov and edmundson are depth defenders. harris and norlinder don't have the potential to get on lindholms level. harris is gone in a few months anyway. that leaves only guhle who is probably needs many years to get there if he ever does. if the habs are trying to make the playoffs again signing lindholm makes a lot of sense. that said i think it's a mistake not to gut the habs and do a full rebuild from the bottom up.

I always forget about Jordan Harris. That does make things even more crowded, But if the Canadiens are going to sign Harris, why haven't they? Is the consensus that he will not sign and become a free agent?

Romanov is 100% top 4 material. Harris may or may not sign granted. Guhle is at least a year out (I say two)

But, not acquiring a 2C will is a huge oversight.

No Harris and the Habs brass both say that finishing school was the most important thing for him and his family. There is no reason to believe either side is not being truthful other than cynicism.

ya i don't see romanov as a top 4. maybe a low end #4 but more likely a #5 guy.

i agree that the habs need a 2c but there is no cap space left on this team and a top line d is more important than a center.

We can disagree on Romanov lol.

But this team at the forward position is a flat out hot mess. Bad contracts with term, wasted cap in the bottom 6...... list goes on.

We can agree a 1 year turn around is unlikely.
