Wow, what a terrible offer for Brown. Oilers need goaltending more than anything or a Dman

Two years of Brown with almost 1m retained AND a 5th for a late 2nd and a 4th line throw in? Easy pass.

For Connor Brown, Ottawa will want something like this:

He’s a solid 2nd or 3rd line RW who can play on th pk and the pp. singed to a great contract and still has an extra year on his contract if he’s traded at the deadline like he would be in this post.

That’s one and a half seasons along with 2 playoff runs and a strong chance of resigning him. I would expect at least a 1st, especially if you’re asking to retain on his contract for two years. With retention it should be more for sure.

Blake Coleman’s trade is probably a good comparison if you need a rough idea of what’s what.

All that to say, the trade that’s proposed is way off.

For comparison
Canucks trade a first rounder for JT miller who is a top 10 goal scorer in the league and arguably a top 20 player. IMO brown isnt worth a first, maybe a late first if sens retain salary.

There’s no comparison to be made because the fact that the Miller turned out to be a STEAL has no bearing on the current market. Not to mention the fact that Miller’s career highs were almost the exact same as Brown’s before the trade.

Again, Coleman got a 1st and a 1st round prospect from the year before. A 1st is more than fair for Brown.
