If I were the Buffalo GM (probably a good thing), I would do the Barrie deal.
Barrie is signed for 2 additional years, Buffalo only has Jokiharju signed for next season, Barrie is an elite offensive defenseman and his salary is only $625,000 higher than Miller.
@Dmaz026 and
@KDow88 While Skinner is over paid by $2,000,000 he will not be bought out until 2025 at the earliest when there are only two years remaining on his contract.
Skinner is producing now that Granato has allowed Skinner to play to his strengths.
Buffalo needed Boychuk's salary to reach the floor.
Okposo's salary will come off of the books at the end of the 2022-'23 season, freeing up an additional $6,000,000 cap.
Next year I could see four of, Quinn ($894,167), Laaksonen ($853,333), Samuelsson ($925,000), Power or Krebs ($863,333) on the team next year all at ELC, about $3,535,833 cap
replacing Eakin ($2,250,000), Miller ($3,875,000), Butcher ($2,822,764), and Hagg ($1,600,000) with a total cap of 10,547,764
opening up another $7,000,000 for at least the next 3 years.
If offered, Buffalo should make that deal as Barrie's salary could easily be absorbed next two seasons.
