Chiarot is better than Koekkoek and Ceci but the reason we get a 1st is because he would only cost 1.75 (half retained) and is a UFA so no cap implications beyond this year.

None are worth a 1st. However, every year there is some big bruising defenceman who really isn't all that good but plays "playoff style" so some dummy will spend too much for those pylons.

Like it are not, the reality is that Ben Chiarot led Montreal in TOI during last year's playoffs. He can play 25 min a night against anybody in the league. He is big, he hits hard and he has decent skating. His only weakness is his little habit to get a penalty. Guess what? There is no penalty in the playoffs. He also doesn't provide much offence, but with the Nurse, Barry and Ceci this is probably not a big problem.

Saying Ben Chiarot is as good as Ceci, Keith Or Koekkoek just show me your little knowledge in hockey or what it takes to win in playoffs

Yes, just cause your an Oilers fan doesn't make Ceci better. Ceci was horrible in Ottawa, worse in Toronto and only magically better in Edmonton. Chiarot plays a heavy defensive style cause that is what we ask him to play. He has the ability to put up more points as is proof by his play this season when he has had to carry the offense from the back end.

So What You're Saying Is That If Ceci Plays Rough In The Playoffs With Heavy Minutes Played, We Csn Acquire A First? Cool... I'll Trade Ceci For Your First This Upcoming Draft

Yeah... but he can't. That's the whole point. Can't play physical nor being reliable enough, therefore no 1st for Ceci

At the end of the day, we all know that the only team known to trade their first for someone of that caliber is Toronto, so you can get your first from Toronto

Chiarot is a massive upgrade over Ceci. Don’t care who you cheer for.

Can you play Keith for 25 minutes?
Is he going to send a message or fight to protect a teammate? Is he physically imposing and able to bully most forwards when protecting the net?

Keith is (was) a finesse player, but because his speed was a big part of his game, and he hasn't been able to adapt, his value is low.

Ceci just doesn't play that game. You don't want penalties of course but that's part of the job when defending. Bowling someone over or getting rough is part of protecting the net. You might need to get dirty to prevent a goal and sometimes you get pinged for it.

Koekkoek is averaging 11 minutes. That's 7th D territory. Obviously not worth a 1st.

You may not like or agree, but it's simple fact that teams want Chiarot type players on their roster for the playoffs. The reason he makes sense for Edmonton, is that they do not have that guy. Nurse is closest, but you want him doing other things. Nobody else on the roster is willing or able to do what Chiarot does.

Holland works for the Oilers and Chiarelli is not employed as a GM so I doubt you get a 1st for these guys.

What. Yeah he was horrible in ottawa but if u judge players off how they were 4+ years ago that's kinda stupid. He was actually great defensively with the leafs and he's been good in edmonton. Ben CHiarots analytics on the other hand are some super hot garbage.

LMAO how come every leafs fan in the world wanted Ceci traded for a bag of used pucks then? Ceci was horrible in Toronto, perhaps if you had watched a single Toronto game you would have seen how bad he was. Your right Chiarot is super hot garbage, I mean who wants a player who plays top 4 minutes against the best players in the world 25+ minutes a night in the playoffs and helps run the best PK in the playoffs?! That is "some super hot garbage" for sure! tears of joy tears of joy
