I don’t think Van is considering moving Boeser anymore

Last thing the Jets should be trading for is an LW, and Copp could bring a better return.

That would definitely get Boeser, but it would suck… only happens in the offseason if Chevy knows Scheif and PLD are staying.
Personally, I’d keep Perfetti and trade Scheifele

Wouldn’t make that Vancouver trade, that 1st is going to be a really good pick and Perfetti's the Jets best prospect.

The jets aren’t making that Vancouver trade and in my opinion, it’s an overpay.

Jets starting a streak and messing with your good first theory, this package would have to bring back a bargain contract hitting way over his weight. Not sure if that player quite exists, possibly a rhd chychrun that 3 or 4 inches taller, Suzuki or barzal, maybe a blockbuster that somehow brings barzal and dobson. But pretty unlikely with the current cap and also the draft and develop mentality of the jets.

I don’t know what it is, but it kind of reminds me of that leclair dejardins Dionne for recchi, and perfetti and petterson would mess with the division for a decade

A perfetti-Pettersson duo would wreck havoc on the whole league for a long time 👀

Hopefully the jets version of sergachev, but probably similar to a Dillon, possibly his replacement anyway in a couple years or less

Your projection of Samberg being more like Dillon is likely going to be on the mark. From the Athletic:

"6. Dylan Samberg, LHD, Manitoba-AHL
Jan. 24, 1999 | 6-foot-3 | 190 pounds

Drafted: No. 43 in 2017
Tier: Projected middle of the lineup player
Skating: Average
Puck Skills: Below-average
Hockey Sense: Average
Compete: Above-average

Samberg didn’t have a great season from an offensive standpoint, but he was an important, high-minutes player for Manitoba and looked the part of a good pro. He’s a big, mobile, physical defenseman who you can see shutting down good NHL players due to his excellent gap control. The puck play isn’t the best, but his first pass is decent enough and he has enough flashes of creativity to think he can handle a higher minute NHL workload. Samberg projects as a limited-offense, second-pair defenseman."

Edit: Summary assessment of under-22 Jets prospects by The Athletic
1. Perfetti: Projected top of the lineup player
2. Lucius: Projected bubble top and middle of the lineup player
3. Heinola: Projected bubble top and middle of the lineup player
4. Chibrikov: Projected middle of the lineup player
5. Gustafsson: Projected middle of the lineup player
6. Samberg: Projected middle of the lineup player
7. Vesalainen: Projected to play NHL games
8. Torgersson: Projected to play NHL games
9. Nikkanen: Projected to play NHL games

Have a chance: Chisolm, Gawanke, Kuzmin, Lundmark, Smith, Holm, Johannesson

Although I really don't want to lose Boes, that trade is great for Van.

Was Kovacevic on this list?

I've watched a decent amount of Samberg and think he got a but overrated by Jets fans but his assessment by The Athletic seems pretty spot on, he reminds me of Dumolin a bit.

Well tonight is the test, if they can beat the very good Avs it'll be FOUR wins in a row, seriously when was the last time the Jets did that?

Not sure on last, but I think Lowry might actually be a decent choice going forward, well atleast play the hungry player, and reward work over name plates. But pretty early to tell and a missing wheeler. What’s more likely perfetti the Olympian or playoffs?

Kovacevic wasn't listed, as I believe he was above the cutoff age.

From January 2020 though: "On a Moose team that has been outscored on the year, he has driven results. He has a chance to be a good third-pairing option who can complement a more talented lefty."

He needs to see past his own nameplate on one of the jerseys though, that boy should not see a single second of powerplay time.... 🤔

My guess is Olympics.

Interesting, really seems like the assessment on most D prospects by scouts/writers/pundits is if they don't instantly step into a top 4 role they're going to be a good 3rd pair guy at best, its like there's no middle ground.. lol

I really hope the Kovacevic and Gawanke types are given legit chances to make the team but given the Jets tracks record that doesn't seem likely unfortunately.

I guess the author (Scott Wheeler) has to have a cutoff age to make his reports manageable, as I'd be interested in hearing his take on Kovacevic's in the two years since he last appeared in a report. My sense is that the past two years he has progressed quite a bit.

In terms of Jets D draft picks, if you aren't in the first round you probably won't make it. If Samberg and Kovacevic make it it would be the first time a Jets 2nd and 3rd round D draft pick would make the NHL.

2011 - 0 games for Serville (3rd), Yuen (4th), Harstad (7th)
2012 - 550 games for Trouba (1st)
2013 - 376 games for Morrissey (1st); 150 for Poolman (5th); 0 for Kostalek (4th), Kichton (7th) and Karlstrom (7th)
2014 - 11 for Nogier; 0 for Glover (3rd)
2015 - 66 for Niku (7th)
2016 - 69 for Stanley (1st); 0 for Green (3rd)
2017 - 0 for Samberg (2nd), Kovacevic (3rd), Gawanke (5th) and Evingson (7th)
2018 - 0 for Chisholm (5th) and Vallati (5th)
2019 - 13 for Heinola; 0 for Lundmark (2nd)
... probably not worthwhile to look at the last two draft classes yet

Well they failed that test miserably, is it not time to accept the Jets just aren't anywhere as good as the hype they got from some and look at making some bigger changes? 17-18 is a distant memory now, time to move on and look to the future.

Also this team needs some ****in toughness ffs!

Only way is buy out wheeler and try to shine up scheifele to deal at draft, and move on from Dillon at trade deadline, and attempt to shine up schmidt, to move for a new nucleus in the Dubois age group. Definitely need some push back and size on blue line, and any hole in top 6. It’s sad we have switched places with min/nash, nucleus group has grown stale on the shelf with lack change and too much term and dough on some of the old guys. Just an opinion

Worst part is not going to happen, going to grind through like the wild have, last few years until they bit the bullet and bought out parise and suter. Jets need to get aggressive pullout all the stops for the fanbase.

Prior to this three game road trip, I would have been happy with 4 out of 6 points. That said, the performance in Colorado really highlights how far away the Jets are from being a contender. The next two games ( @ DET, OTT) won't tell us much about the team (unless they lose) so the next long road trip (WSH, NSH, BOS, PIT)will basically tell us if Dave Lowry's coaching philosophy has resonated with the team.

Separately, I'd be interested in watching the potential field trip games (FLA, VAN and whatever ones in February) on TV to see how fans in Saskatoon would receive the Jets if Friedman's tweet becomes a reality.
