Friedman isn't worth a 4th right now, he hasn't played enough this season, and Kapanen is barely worth a 1st rounder with the way he's been playing this season. Don't forget Halak is in the trade as well

Miller is a player cut from a very rare elk with his versatility and the infectious way he plays the game, Vancouver isn't taking even the slightest chance of selling low on him

Not saying they aren't good depth pieces, but I just don't see much of a market for ZAR, DeSmith, or Friedman to really make a value impact on a blockbuster trade, and Kapanen is more of a middle six forward than a top 6 winger, I think you're overvaluing him a bit

Kapanen has the potential, and I gaurantee you the reason he hasnt been that good is because Geno isnt with him

My philosophy has always been that a player's value should be determined strictly based on what that player is able to contribute on their own, not what they are able to accomplish when reaping the benefits of playing with certain linemates, or external help in other words. To me when you say that Kapanen will pick up his game when Geno comes back, it sounds like you are in denial of Kapanen's actual value being lower than you want it. Just look at what happened to Jeff Skinner when Eichel left his side

nope for either Boeser or Miller the only piece the Canucks would be interested in would be Marino. Pens wouldn't have the prospects to compete with other offers
