how does it benefit the oilers to give up their two best prospects and a ton of picks for carey price, who's inconsistent at best at this point, even at half retained? i like petry more than most people on here and i'd maybe give up a decent package for him but nothing like this, and price has practically no trade value even at 50% retained

Because adding a playoff goaltender and a defender of Petry's caliber, behind McDavid and draisaitl Edmonton will win the Cup

avs have 0 interest in Drouin, and they for sure wont be trading a top D prospect of theirs in Barron for him even if they were, Drouin isnt getting that back in return

Holloway is expected to join the lineup soon and fix some issues the oilers have up front. He’s the type of player they’re lacking in the top 6. Price is a gamble they can’t afford to take right now at that cost. It’s just a terrible deal for the oilers, you’re looking at it as a habs fan. Oilers reject that all day.

Replace Holloway and broberg with a lesser prospect and another 2nd round pick, MAYBE they’ll take Allen for that.
