Klingberg at double retention will likely fetch more

Hertl trade is close in value but I think you'd have to add in something else to make the trade

Even if they agreed to these trades, if you lose in the first round again this year, you just sacrificed your entire future for like 30 games of Klingberg and Hertl.

Don’t mind Amirov and the 1st but if you want the sharks to take Ritchie more needs to be coming.

It's 2022. That is big overpay for Klingberg. Kinda of false statement about Holl calling him a depth Dman. 20 minutes a night, against top lines and kills PK. Klingberg is good on the PP, mediocre elsewhere but certainly not a position for need for the Leafs.
It's a 1st and Amirov and cap dump Ritchie for Hertl. Holloway is a bare AHLer.

Well even if they win the Cup they lose futures. I can't believe how much people are overrating the current edition of Klingberg.

Would like to not lose in the first round again, hence the trades - if it brings a cup that's all that matters honestly

Klinger is an animal in the playoffs. Our coach is a dinosaur. His system is trash and completely kills Klingers ability to be effective. There’s actually a few articles running around with stats to back it up. I don’t disagree his numbers this year aren’t great, but I think whoever gets him is gonna be very happy they did. I’d love to see what he could do in Florida or Carolina. I see your point tho and there’s always a possibility he doesn’t return to form, but I think he will

Hertl is worth more, how often does a proven playoff performer top line caliber C who is on pace for 40+ goals become available in the TDL? if he is traded it will be for a 1st this year a 2nd plus a top prospect. yes my ask is really high but sharks are still legit in a playoff hunt and why would we trade our best player unless it’s for something ridiculous.

But realistically they have a very low chance of winning, as every team does.

So never trade for rentals is your answer? I'd rather add rentals of value than players like Plekanec, Boyle, Foligno. - If Dubas thinks they have a legitimate chance, he has to give them the help no?

You can add rentals without completely derailing your future like Columbus did in 2019.

Columbus was a fringe team in 2019 - leafs have been top 4/5 in points percentage in the entire league all season. The reason it derailed them is because Panarin and Bob were UFA's and they double down with duchene Dzingel mcquiad and kinkaid (none of which were playing at a level of either of the two players above). On the fringe of the playoffs they would have been smarter to utilize bob and panarin as trade pieces. The leafs aren't a fringe playoff team
