Ducks shouldn't trade for Hoffman.

Overpay for Gallagher -- and there is no way I would consider trading for that contract without retention.

I might overvalue Gallagher, but in my eyes this guy's value's pretty high! 30 goal scorer with leadership!

But when was the last time he actually scored 30 goals? The 2018-19 season.

He's been on-pace since then, sure, but injuries have kept him from playing and reaching that goal. For a 30-year old, hard-nosed player signed for 5 more years after this at $6.5m cap hit... that just seems like a major risk. And he only had 2 goals in 22 playoff games last season and has 4 in 25 games so far this year.

Gallagher has been a great NHLer, but I just don't see anyone risking it with that contract right now unless there is retention. And even then, I don't see a team offering up this much for him.
