JVR isn't a good fit with the Leafs.

Leafs would certainly need a Dman back in the trade. Maybe they consider the trade. if Braun was included. Leafs would have to hope they offload JVR in the off season.....maybe free to Jersey.

Braun at half retained can be included. Add in William Villeneuve from the Leafs.

Saitanism

Ironically hes exactly what they need on their PP as he would be an upgrade over Ritchie rn

Remember he scored 40 goals with us

JVR-Matthews-Nylander was a monster line

I liked him, but he was a sheltered 3rd liner PP specialist when his time was ending with the Leafs, it hasn't really changed.

Him being a PP replacement for Ritchie doesn't help too much, when Ritchie becomes the 13th forward again starting Saturday.

I don't remember a JVR-Matthews-Nylander line. I remember Hyman - Matthews- Nylander line.

The point is does JVR provide more value than Mrazek. I don't think it's close.

Doesn't provide more value to the Leafs.

JVR would be a $3.5M 4th liner playing with Spezza and Simmonds. Leafs don't have a backup goalie if they move Mrazek.

A backup keeper that has played 4 games so far? You can find that at a lot closer to league minimum salary levels. The Flyers can even retain on Jones giving the Leafs a $1 million backup they're only tied to for the rest of this season.

Not if you take more than 2 seconds and think it through.

Kerfoot on pace for 58 pts with absolutely zero PP time. He's also one of their top PKers.

3rd line is their checking line where Engvall and Mikheyev are obviously better fits.

So, like I said JVR would be a $3.5M 4th liner.

$3.8M backup goalie with term, or $3.5M 4th liner with term.

Neither are great pieces. But Leafs have decent LW depth, a great PP so they really don't have a need for JVR.

Big difference in 1.5 years in term over 2.5 years in term. Plus JVR is a movable piece at $3.5 million especially when is actual salary next season is less than his cap hit.

OK. You win.

Leafs do this trade, then follow it up with several other trades in order to fill newly created holes and immediately dump JVR to another team (because trades that lead to multiple other trades are common, because trades are so easy to make these days).
