Bring JT Miller Home

Created by: hockeybadger
Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 17, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
JT Miller grew up just outside Pittsburgh and still lives in that area.

When it comes to his value, he's on a two year deal that pays him 5.5M. That itself is a steal for what he does, but at 50% retention he'd be down to 2.65M!

A first rounder is obviously what starts the conversation, but John Marino and ZAR could too (they were both Rutherford guys and would help balance the money). Poolman is there to balance the money and he could be a guy that works well in the PIT system at only 2.5M.

Let me know what you think!

Call a spade a spade. You’re looking to get rid of Marino’s contract. I don’t think its an asset.

How is this a bad trade?

Pittsburgh gets a top 10 scorer in the NHL for under $3M for the next two years and a competent D-man to extend their window with Crosby and Malkin. Odds are Rodrigues walks at the end of the year too so there's your insurance policy.

Miller is easily worth a 1st and a top prospect without the retention, and there's been talks about Marino getting moved for a while now.

Dude, idk where your getting your info from but Marino hasnt been in any trade talks. Marino is signed longterm for a reason. So that he can take Letang's place when we retires. Also, we'd rather keep Rodriguez then Kapanen at this point. Yes I like Miller and he would be a great adition, i dont see us trading Marino for him. It weakens the defense

I think you’re crazy. Marino is almost untouchable. Wouldn’t do this trade for Marino straight up, much less adding a 1st and bottom 6 forward

I’m not a fan of that term personally.

Obviously didn’t look at their favorite teams. They are a Canucks fan. All of these Marino trades are from Canucks fans. Most pens fans have been blowing these posts up for a while now.
