You're adding pieces to both trades to land those guys. For Giroux likely a significant piece

Jost's value is still very high (late 1st or early 2nd round pick value) so you're easily giving up two big pieces with him and the 1st. I can see Colorado adding in one more asset but this might be the best trade Phily gets as they receive a 1st and a young NHL player with potential to be a top 6 forward still.

A buddy and I were talking about Mayfiled on this team the other day and I would love to see it. Girard needs a player like that. They probably send over Beherns tho, someone who isn't as NHL ready as Kaut and the Avs have so many LHD it'd be tough for him to break in anytime soon. I imagine he has more trade value too.

Jost is projecting as a third line center, I'd agree he is probably in that value range but Philly likely still asks for someone like Barron on top of that package

They can ask all they want but Barron isn’t being traded for a pure rental which Giroux would be in COL. Personally I think the value is fair, I think the ACGM’s on here for rentals definitely fly in the massive over pay area.

Rentals on trade deadline day always fly in that area in real life. We have seen teams give up firsts and good prospects for worst players then Giroux before, likely happen again.

Yeah but when was the last time one of those guys helped the team to the cup, and that wasn’t in the Covid cap era.

Honestly only Tampa in recent years, they found a rental in Savard that helped. Others had term but they targeted the right players. Still doesn't stop teams from doing it though lol

You’re going to have to give up a lot for G we’re not taking scraps out we’ll just trade him somewhere else

Don't think you'll get too many big offers with the likes of Barron or Newhook involved for a 34 yr old rental when he has the NMC he has, plus it would need to be a contender if he were to go who won't have cap space, or want to give up major assets. I think you'll be disappointed if this is what you're expecting back.

If you think Giroux is worth a late first and a third liner then you are mistaken. Barron and a first plus something else will 100% be needed
