If you claim Niku and put him on waivers to send him to the taxi squad then Montreal get first chance to claim him and can then send him directly to the minors without waivers again. So if you claim him you need to keep him on the roster

No they don't the only advantage they get is they can send him down if it makes it to them like TB with Barre-Boulet the only teams that didn't get a chance on him after Seattle waived him were VGK,COL, CAROLINA, FLORIDA, TORONTO. It is was before 11/1so waivers were reverse order of last year's final points with Seattle agreed they'd be 3 like in the draft. Well if they have the worst record yeah

You forget that Montreal is in last place, meaning they get first crack at waived players. So if they claim him back they send him down without waiving him again

It's more than fair deal for Wings but I'd personally still hold on to Zadina. He's got talent, he makes plays, good zone entries. His shooting accuracy just sucks coupled with horrible puck luck. Also being misused by a dumb coaching staff putting him on 3rd line with a center who has zero vision/passing/setup ability. New coaching staff this summer (hopefully) should be able to get more out of him

No: well if they have the worst record yeah. Your post made it seem you thought they automatically get first crack which many people believe

He's only 22 and was the 6th OA pick... Fortier is an underwhelming prospect that doesn't even play a position of need and that pick will be a late 1st rounder... I'd rather roll the dice on Zadina figuring it out, especially since points don't tell the whole story and up until a few weeks ago, Zadina was playing great, he just was having terrible luck on the scoresheet and he and Vrana had fantastic chemistry last season... If Vrana comes back and it doesn't get him out of his slump, then we sound the alarm, but until then, we will be patient with him...

    1. Should we really be looking at skeletons in others closets.. with the countless missteps by Vancouver management.
    2. Our D core will survive just fine, in fact, thrive without Lil Hughes.
    3. Stevie Y didn’t select Zadina 6 over Hughes.
    4. There’s no need to sell low on Zadina.
