Ideal deadline

Created by: Flames123

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2022
Published: Jan. 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
As flames fans.. we can see the increase production from Monahan and Backlund last two games. If this keeps up, then deadline might not need as big as splash as we thought.. here are some guys that would be good fits ( let me know about trade values)

Also I’d like to go for it.. as a flames fan I’m tired of standing pat haha

** my thought on Chychrun.. this may not be enough but I don’t mind the flames targeting him. If you could trade kylington for him, you get an upgrade but also have him signed for few years at a really good price.. would be a nice addition

Let's break this up: toffoli for 1st, pelltier, pitlick. Lehky for zavgorodny and 2nd? No. The price starts with a 1st. Pretty close though!

Swap Pelletier with Zary, include the 1st and 2nd, but drop the retention on Toffoli. That's close enough for me to consider. Don't need the rest.
Whether that works for Calgary is up to you.

Well take back what would make it work for Montréal. I’m not trying to nail the trade exactly.. more looking at the roster after

Any trade involving moving Pelletier and not getting a top 6 center is a massive mistake. Pelletier will at the latest be a regular member of the team next year in the top 9. He is a very dynamic 2-way player with immense potential

Calgary probably shouldn't be in on Chychrun. Hanifin has been excellent on the 1st pair and Kylington will be cheaper next year. I would love to add Chychrun and that package is probably around what the Flames would have to offer to make ends meet next year too, however I don't think that would be a whole lot of interest to Arizona

2 1sts and a 2nd for Toffoli without retention? That's too much

Pelletier looks much more solid than Zary. Plus, hes from here and definitely has the leadership qualities that we will need in the upcoming rebuild

He's also a small player, which we have too many of. In a bubble Pelletier is the choice, but big picture we can't have him, Caufield, RHP, Gallagher, etc., all in the lineup.
We need to focus on some bigger players for a bit.

Not very interested in Lehkonen, cant afford him next year without making major roster changes. There are cheaper options for the 4th line

Gallagher is gone at the TDL or this summer. So, in terms of small players youd have Caufield and Pelletier in the top 9 longterm.

I'm not so sure Gallagher moves. Even so, we still have players like Pinard and Hillis. We're also betting on Caufield and Pelletier being top 6 and it limits our options having two small players, especially if the rest of the top 6 is around 5'10.

Pinard is a 4th line player in the making and Hillis may never be an NHLer. Wed be just fine with this longterm:

X-Suzuki-Caufield
Pelletier-X-Anderson
Roy-Dvorak-X
The X being players drafted in the next 2 drafts.

I agree with what you are saying @flames123.

I would take Lehkonen out of the deal and just do a 1st and 2nd for Toffoli.
I dont mind the Brassard trade, but hope Ruzicka would be able to center the 4th line.
I keep flip flopping on whether the Flames should be in on Chycrun because of how well Kylington is playing.... but make that move if the Coyotes like it. Cements the top 4 for the next 3 years at a good price!

The reason I added lehkonen is because i read a rumor of us giving up a deal involving the two of them with Calgary. I agree I would just take Toffoli but im going with what Ive read. Also agree with Chycrun, we don’t HAVE to do this move… but I do believe he is an upgrade in our top 4 and he has such a nice contract..

I’m ready to go all in.. I’m tired of sitting pat at the deadline haha. These deals also give you players with term..

The problem with Lehkonen is that Montreal should keep him if they are only getting a 2nd. He'll still get that as a rental next year, so no reason to move him now unless they are getting more.
My stance is that we don't move him for less than a good prospect, preferably C or RD.
So you can have him for the right prospect, but if you don't have that or prefer to use a pick to acquire him, you're getting close to a 1st to make Montreal consider it.

Reasonably, the options could be:
- A late 1st or early 2nd
- A good prospect
- A late 2nd plus a decent prospect
- A late 2nd plus a late 3rd

In order to close any gap in value, Montreal can either retain, take back a contract, or add a pick.
You also have to consider the possibility of a bidding war and putting your best offer on the table.

If you are only thinking about Lehkonen, and aren't willing to go at least that far, you probably don't want him badly enough.
Try to take all that into consideration, then decide whether he's someone you want to pursue.

Well there you go.. I did not know that haha. The reason I said flames dont take that is because our GM likes to be “involved” in trade talks, then miss out on all of them
