They will just trade for Ferland or Bishop. They don’t want Bailey to take a roster spot.

You mean you don't want an elite first line playmaking sniper Joshua Bailey?

About four years ago he was worth something, can’t say he is now. And they don’t need any help getting to the cap floor next year, they can sign whoever they want in free agency if all they want is money. I would imagine they’ll try to go after a pending RFA in a trade especially if the team he plays for now can’t afford to pay him what he wants. Maybe a younger UFA that fits our timeline.

Gonna cost u a 1st imo to get rid of Bailey
    *at least to the Sabres
We know we aren’t competing for a Cup in the next 2years,
which is the length of his remaining contract
So he isn’t a player with much value to us, other than what u guys will give up to have us take him
    For example:
A couple years ago, the Leafs had to pay a 1st to get rid of ONE YEAR of Marleau at $6mil
U wanna get rid of TWO YEARS of Bailey at $5mil per

We would do it for a 1st though imo
Mgmt is pushing hard to get 2-3 more 1sts in this draft-
we REALLY like the talent in it

Even willing to take on significant salary/cap from what I’m hearing

Bailey is on pace for the 6th straight season for 50 points over 82 games. In what world is that a cap dump at 5m for 2 more years??????????? And on top of that you want a 1st to take him???????? I know he doesnt make sense to trade to buffalo but to pay anything to move him at all is preposterous. He'll easily bring back a 2nd round pick.

Like i said, *to the Sabres
I’m not saying he isn’t worth paying for- just not to US

Also…. u might not have an easy time moving him at this deadline bc he’s got years remaining and that means lesser teams who can fit in his Cap moving forward

Bailey’s goal scoring has dropped off a cliff as well (on pace for only 8 this year), so that takes a hot to any value he’d have too
Teams generally will trade for a goal scorer at the deadline,
at least before they’ll trade for a playmaker type

    Ignore other Sabres ACGM's.
He has value, Buffalo has too many LH forwards, but he has playoff experience and plays RW.
Did play on the same line with Okposo?
So while Buffalo could sign a player to a silly contract (see Tim Murray and Matt Moulson). getting a third would get me interested, it is close to what I would think is fair.

No i wouldnt move any picks to move bailey. He could be dealt and get a return of a 2nd pretty easy. Hes been on pace for 50 points over 82 games the last 6 seasons. As far as i know hes the cheapest player to do that. He is a veteran and has a lot of playoff experience.

Even then…. there aren’t too many teams (I’d think) who’d be willing to give up a 2nd (like u suggest u can get) for an aging winger that costs $5mil coming off a season where he scored less than 10goals

Its true but gms love consistency (for good reason) and they also love playoff experience. Hes also a great locker room guy. There arent many teams that would be interested but a young up and coming team that could use a 2nd line playmaker with a lot of experience would work. 1 team that comes to mind is anaheim, especially if getzlaf retires. Potentially jersey is another though theyre a divisional team. Hes also useful to other teams trying to win as hes a consistent 50 point guy who elevates his game in the playoffs.

Yeah, a team like that could be a possibility
Just don’t think the Sabres would be
