Just gotta say that if Habs are about to get a first+prospect for Chiarot, then that should be the minimum asking price for Manson, too.

Ducks are 2nd in their division. 1 point out of 1st. Why are they selling?

They should be selling. They're still rebuilding and they should trade at least one of their big 3 UFA's.

I'm not saying the above trade is a good enough return but they definitely should be trading Manson otherwise they would be short changing a pretty good rebuild.

I'm sure this would send a good message to the Ducks players. "Hey you guys are having a good season but we're in the middle of a rebuild so we'll be selling UFA's at the trade deadline. We don't actually care how you do in the playoffs."

I'm sure it's the right move. No long term damage at all. The important thing is to improve the Leafs for a good playoff run.

And? Give me a good reason why my statement is "wrong" or "bad" or whatever.

Note the part where I was not endorsing the trade above? I did say trading Manson is a good idea.

Short changing a rebuild may mean not having a young player or two when the team actually starts competing to be a top team in the league.

That's just how the NHL is. Btw in terms of P%, they aren't in the playoffs right now.

Why would that cause long term damage? It's just the brutal reality of the league and every player should understand that trading your pending UFA's does not mean they don't care for their players. They aren't contenders, so why not trade UFA's for assets?
