I’m sure we’d need a pick higher in the draft coming back for Manson

Arizona had 13 -- count 'em, 13 -- NHL players under contract for next year assuming that they re-sign all of their RFAs, plus Victor Soderstrom if he's promotable. Koskinen is a UFA and will disappear at the end of this season and there's absolutely no assurance that Samorukov can make even that team out of training camp. So the Coyotes are going to trade 2 NHLers, one of whom is their only viable goalie, for one NHLer? Not even the first and the second make up for that.

Would EDM consider a Barrie for Hoffman swap 1 for 1?

We don't need / want barrie. We are tanking, we dont want barrie there to hang out our goalies out to dry with his turnovers, if anything a defensive defensemen, not a defensive liability, thank you very much!

Oilers pass here, not ARZ. ARZ makes out like bandits

At the half way point in the season, the Habs have the most goals against and second fewest goals for. They have 6 more goals than the Islanders, but the Islanders have 5 games in hand. I think it's fair to suggest Montreal needs to improve offense as much as it needs to improve defense.

Tyson Barrie could be an option. His contract is good value for a guy who has consistently produced elite offensive numbers from the blue line. He would likely provide an immediate improvement to the abyssmal power play, and if deployed properly at 5v5 he will improve the transition game. Of course proper deployment means a defensively responsible veteran partner, and no top pairing minutes.

I don't think the Oilers would entertain a 3rd round pick as the only return, and I appreciate Montreal is not in a position to take on contracts without shedding some as well. Other AcGMs have suggested an exchange of Mike Hoffman and Tyson Barrie. I'm not sure Edmonton sees that as a fit, but they might.
