Sergachev isn't the defensive D Colorado is looking for, and he's certainly not worth more than Matta is today.

You would need to give up more for MacKinnon or at least more then a A- defense prospect and a B- defense prospect and a late round 1st round pick in a bad draft year, and a late 2 in 2018, number one centers are he most expensive players.

If you get rid of the sergechev and throw in McCaron you could proubably get Duchenne.

And Matta in my opinion is worth more then a late round draft pick

he 100% is. I think a late first for maatta is a very fair value. he's struggled this season but he's still a young D with a high ceiling. can easily be a #2 D

Hard hard hard pass on this. MacKinnon is worth more to the Avs than 2 D Prospects (despite being solid ones) and 2 draft picks.

Also MacKinnon isnt on the trade block. Hockey News is a joke of a publication for pandering to Jim Mathesons terrible opinion article about the Avs. Edmonton Journal needs to stick to talking about their own team

dude he isn't bad, but the guy has over 200 games in the NHL already - enough to know the type of player he is menaing we have a decent sample to judge from. He is getting by based off of draft merit at this point and his ceiling is probably a #3-4 guy and could play #2 if the #1 is really really really good. He's been a negative CF% rel half of his career and hovers around 50 CF%. Add in the few injuries and the fact that he doesn't really score and you are left with a decent defenseman, but not first round pick worthy regardless of the how late it is. It would be like me saying the Flyers should get a first for Gudas - although Gudas has superior possession numbers compared to Maatta. Maatta at most is worth a 2nd Rd. Pick or two B+ prospects if we are being honest.

Both of the defenders that are being offered are of B+/A- value, along with a 1st round pick and an 2nd round pick, I would trade MacKinnion in an instance, if I was Colorado. I would terminate my general manager if he made this trade for MacKinnion, especially since they have Galchenyuk.

So trade an establish good 1C for 4 pieces that have never played in the NHL....yes that makes a lot of sense. If you want to talk about taking a crap shoot on hope and futures that either Dman fully ban out to be a top pairing dman and unknown value in draft picks....especially the first in 2017 being a late 20 in a meh draft year.

Come on man think it through on the Avs side of thing. You are asking to move their Franchise center for all Risk and Potential with nothing being established. That would be a disaster
